So as you may know, I've been fancying myself some Sims 3 lately. Mostly getting into all of the packs and features I never had a chance to explore during its prime. One of these things is Roaring Heights.
Its boardwalk looks like this: aesthetically pleasing but rather empty~
To provide some pizzazz, I decided to develop the lot to function into a Festival Grounds. That would attract more sims!
You see, I've never done this before. So I did some googling and quickly came across this archive of a decades-old blog post,
Seasonal Lot Markers Tutorial, from none other than EAxis's very own SimGuruGraham!
No. This was NOT any old
middling blog post. Graham decided to go all out and craft a 6,000+ word tutorial on how to use the patch update's Seasonal Lot Marker complete with a FAQ section and a 46-step unabridged walkthrough. Look at the effort. Look at the scrupulousness!
Thank you,
@SimGuruGraham! I wonder what he's up to now. I hope he's doing well. I see he's a Production Lead and most recently worked on four (4x) Sims 4 Kits - First Fits Kit, Desert Luxe Kit, Everyday Clutter Kit, and Pastel Pop Kit. I hope he'll be a part of the Rene team.
Not me getting nostalgic for 2012 and SimGuruGraham!

I desperately want changing festival lots for sims 4 even though I don't think we will ever see them. I also really wish they would do a version of RH for Sims 4.
And yeah, I hope all the gurus are doing well. I keep thinking about simguru Copeland, otherwise known as SantaClause LOL That guy went out of his way so many times to make a beautiful game for us. He was amazing.
I ended up having horrible problems with zombies, they just would not stop spawning no what I tried. So he made the Grim Reaper's Gate of Doom and included a feature that brute forced fixed the zombies for me. Cindirellamouse kept asking for a giant rose window and a round theater, and I'm not sure which guru but one of them made sure she got those. They really went above and beyond for us, just like simguru Graham's instructions for the festival lots.
Thank you! I will check it out
Very cool! Thank you for sharing
@stickykisses - Zombies are always a pain in Sims 3. If they don't eat your garden, they're always attacking you. I've tuned them out with NRAAS Retuner, partly because I just can't be bothered with them.
Always "River McIrish" ...and maybe some Bebe Hart. ~innocent expression~
Happy simming!
I have stumbled upon that tutorial when trying to understand seasonal lot markers, so it has definately been useful. It should be kept around somewhere.
So far I've had limited use for the Boardwalk lot. I placed it in the Sunlit Tides world which I used for Sofia and Palash's honeymoon. The lot is cool enough, I mean, there's roller coasters in Sims 3. I have been sort of thinking about .. maybe.. using the roller coaster pieces to build something of my own on some other lot somewhere else, but I haven't gotten around to it. So far I don't think it would fit in anywhere.
I used to really enjoy playing The Roller Coaster Tycoon series back in the day, building theme parks was fun. Though in real life, I'm actually terrified of roller coasters and would never ride one...
