When they are left to their own devices, the decisions they make just boggles my mind.
The Glass family finally got enough money to landscape around their house. Yesterday I went ahead and gave them some bushes, flowers, trees and put their hot tub on a deck.
They have 3 working toilets in their house, two upsides and one downstairs. And what do they decide to do when I'm not controlling them and letting them be? They decide to go 'fertilize' the bushes outside like they are some kind of uncivilized cave people. Why? Why? Why, EA? Why must you make them stupid??? I don't understand.... And none of them are werewolves.
I think the Sims get dumber each installment.

I'm not putting any more bushes near their house. They are too stupid to have them.
Of course it does. LOL
Especially after they pee themselves and then using those open showers, that's almost a death sentence.
Platforms are great example of this problem. They are so glitchy I needed to delete excellent game changers rental lots from Yukimatsu in Mt Komorebi and make my own simple ones without a single platform (changing shoes also messes up game but that’s other story). My pregnant sim became glitched to the point she could not sleep, because she was waking up to throw up, but platform didn’t allow her to run so she canceled the action. As a result she was always waking up after that. Loading old save was my only option.
Sea may rise, sky may fall, My love will never die..
My heart, my heart, My drowning heart, Oh all the tears I've cried
Oh I may weep forevermore, My love will never die..
Oh. My. Gawsh.
Although my vampires are dumber yet! I caught the vampire heading out in the sunlight to use the telescope.
Dummy...
Hehe, yeah. My sims do tons of things that make no sense. My sims no longer keep gardens because one of the biggest annoyances for me is how sims would rather talk to plants than guests that visit. Not to mention guests will often go talk to the plants or study them as well.
LOL I used to ask myself the same question. Then I took a good hard look at the people around me in RL. We ARE stupid in so many ways. It's incredible. But, not to appear unsympathetic to your situation, I now just shrug and it makes me realize I need to step in upon occasion and save my Sims from themselves! It is especially maddening when you know a Sim was fully Potty trained as a Toddler, and are old enough to know to use the toilet when they get the urge. Still, I have a Genius Teen (he's actually got that Trait) do the 🐸🐸🐸🐸 walk on the way to the bathroom. What is up with that?

This is why my Sims haven't been allowed to have sinks since The Sims 1. If sims aren't wandering out of the bathroom to wash their hands in the kitchen sink, they're invading the bathroom with a stack of dishes while their teenager is trying to use the loo.
And yes, I do realize this is an annoyance to many. I just find it funny because of my real life experiences.
BTW, looking for creative ways to eliminate Sims in Dream Dollhouse.
Large wealthy family with a pool in their back yard. Lots of kids. Not even a day after the joyous gift-getting festivities of their yearly visit from Old Man Winter himself, with the snow lying fresh on the ground, and half the kids in the family decide to freeze themselves to death trying to either investigate an ice-crusted pool float or backflip off the diving board for the sake of feeling active... in a mansion decked out with everything they could possibly need for play, learning, wellness, etc. besides the pool. Had to crash my game once the grim reaper popped up to keep from losing them since it wasn't exactly in my plans to have half the family succumb to stupid before I had a chance to play them through high school. @_@
I remember TS3 was insane with their stupid choices, my sims were constantly dying of something. I had a hard time keeping them alive before I discovered mods.
OFC with my sims, they aren't allowed to make stupid choices. I micromanage my sims to the point of they don't dare do anything dumb. I can't trust them. They would go get themselves "dead" by something ridiculous if I wasn't watching their every little move.
This. No stupidity allowed in my sim household. 😄
And I agree with the responses that it kind of mimics real life. That's true. People in real life don't always make smart choices either. Sims just takes it up about 10 notches.
