Or is it just me?
This is just something I've noticed about myself and was wondering if I'm alone in it or not. Also thought it could be an interesting discussion.
I'm very much a young adult in real life (23 years old) and for some reason, I just find it super uncomfortable/weird/hard to play with adult or elder Sims. Like for some reason I just can't get as immersed in my gameplay and end up switching over to playing with one of my (many) young adult sims after only a few minutes of playing with an adult or elder sim.
Don't get me wrong, I still add them to my world where they can live, walk around, and what not, since it's more realistic that way. But I pretty much play exclusively with young adults (or teens since I plan on downloading the mod to let them quit school.) Like, I just can't actively play with adults or elders without it feeling "off."
Does anyone else feel this way? Or can you easily play with any lifestage?
Does anyone else find it "weird" to play with lifestages older than they are? 146 votes
Yes, I can't play with lifestages I haven't experienced yet
No, playing lifestages older than me doesn't bother me

ETA: sorry Caleb, Vlad and Lilith , no harm done, right?
Sea may rise, sky may fall, My love will never die..
My heart, my heart, My drowning heart, Oh all the tears I've cried
Oh I may weep forevermore, My love will never die..
Because I can't; I keep all sigs turned off.
I have always played the same way, since I moved to Sims 2 on PC from console. I stick with a Sim until they are an adult and close to being an elder or until they are an elder, then I either abandon or kill them and move on to one of their kids and start over.
By the time a Sim reaches elder, I've done everything I wanted to do and have started to get bored with them. I've never thought about it in relation to my own age.
I do think I primarily play female Sims because I'm female though.
Then kids and some young adults. Elders and adults are usually my background character sims.
Though I'm happy to have all of the lifestages we do. I don't have anything against any age. It's just what I relate to.
Oh .. true.. but I very much would love to do that

So would I, lol.

I'm a writer, so writing them? Yes, absolutely.
i play with aging off so they're usually premades i keep
Ok, maybe not extreme old age, and I am not yet a grandmother, but I am comfortable playing every age.
When it comes to playing stories with other sims who are not based on real people, I don't mind playing older sims at all.
Once I shook that off and decided that all ages can be interesting (I didn't really play many ages below teen either), I created some households that I ended up loving. I have one household called, "The Journeyman Senior Society", which I created as eight single seniors who want to go on adventures. I initially intended to take them to Selvadorada to challenge the jungle, but I've enjoyed just playing them in their little senior housing complex because their traits and characters are rather interesting. I think I'm going to take them to the slopes of Komorebi first, maybe mountain climbing and see how they do.
So my recommendation is to try something out of your comfort zone, totally different like an old Spellcaster or experienced adult Vampire or something with more humor like an eccentric grumpy neighbor with a quirky personality or crazy cat lady or paranoid, nerdy nobody who believes in Aliens and thinks their neighborhood has been invaded.
But if you just don't like playing certain age groups, that's perfectly okay too. Don't feel you have to enjoy everything in the game, just be free to play what you like to play and have fun. 😊
I love playing all life stages (except babies), I'd be bored to play with only one or two all the time.
All you younger players... being older is not that different, I don't feel different than I did when I was a "young adult". You don't really change THAT much. You'll know it one day.
For me it goes both ways. I know exactly what it feels like to be the baby. I also know what it feels like to be at the end of my ancient live.
I have no problem playing through the entire age range.
It’s wonderful really, The Sims.
i do have few characters that are elders by choice tho
but adults not really unless its maxis sims cause ehh I just don't see point
elders and adults don't really have much gameplay i couldn't do with young adults anyway
and there can only be so many stereotypical grandma and grandpa figures in the town before it becomes dead village for youngsters
also i have lot of occults that would probably just use their youth potions or have been cursed to immortality anyway so it feels off to age them

Make them the grandparents or elders you have always wanted or make them evil witches. I don't care. I'm an elder myself!
I tend not to play with the babies and toddlers though and that might be a reverse age thing. I like to age them up fast!
Something wicked this way comes!
I don't use MCCC.
