I'm still hoping for a Disney Princes/Princesses, Star Trek, Stargate SG1 & Doctor Who.

In Sims 3 there was these wonderful Mad Hatter items, a collaboration, but an awesome one. Since you could change colors and textures in Sims 3, I used those pieces alot. Kids room of course, but also in a Mad Hatter Casino build, and in all my dark and supernatural homes. It wasn't free, but it was useful, so worth the money. Sims 2 had some decent collaborations too, but nearly all the Sims 4 collaborations have been terrible. Only thing I liked was a sweater.

I wasn't looking forward to the Star Wars pack, but it could have been good if it was more than a giant empty backdrop.

For the most part, even the packs that are not collaborations lack substance, but when they add another company to the mix we end up with an advertisement and little more. Would be fine if all this stuff was free, but charging players for a giant advertisement is not a great business model.

Yes and no. There have been some free content that was done as cross/promotional over the years (such as Fiat and Ford cars; and I'm still trying to find the Fords for TS2 or TS3; which one I can't remember), and then there has been paid content. While I own Star Wars, I regret getting it. There is zilch that I use. Moschino I bought for the photography stuff. Katy Perry is the only TS3 pack that is (at present) discontinued. Most of these have been really tacky kind of stuff. I personally think IKEA wasn't that bad, and honestly, I feel that as a SP in TS4 it would sell well.

With the brands I wear there's a ton of Carhartt (coats and jackets, jeans), Wrangler (jeans), Berne (my current work coat; feed store had it at 75% off), and Ariat (work boots) but hardly any fancy label stuff unless it was a Christmas gift from relatives; I don't think they'd be interested in doing anything with the Sims franchise, but it would be good stuff to come with a farm pack. However, I feel some Ariat-branded stuff that would come with a horse pack would work out, and they may be more willing to work with EA than other brands since they are well known, nad are heavier on equestrian and style-forward clothing than most of the brands I wear. As a dude who really only cares if it's comfortable and lasts a long time, the clothing and brands they collaborate with at present just don't work out.

No, BUT they should make retail a fun experience again. Like in Sims 2.

I don't mind either way whether they do collabs or not. Collabs are fine for free updates and the occasional stuff pack, but I don't think they should have a branded game pack or expansion pack. I think collabs are best for CAS or build buy, just small things that won't impact the game.

With the recent makeup thing with MAC, this is entirely on MAC. So many people are blaming EA and calling it cashgrabbing, but EA are not to blame here. MAC are the ones who chose to use that particular palette. EA gave us the makeup free to the game, while MAC are selling it. I think people are overreacting about the whole thing. If they don't want to spend their money on something, they don't have to.

Enough already! It would be much better for them to put the time, $, and effort into fixing this mess they call a game.

Yes, they really should stop collabs, especially if they're going to be half-🐸🐸🐸🐸 and with these brands I have never heard of until they "announce" the collab.

Though, if they insist on continuing collabs with companies, I hope they do a collab with Dangerfield, Black Friday or Princess Highway. It's a brand I know and the brand has lots of really cool, gothic and retro-themed clothing items and accessories.

I'd have to disagree in the sense that someone at EA had to have known what MAC was releasing and give some sort of approval. I mean I don't buy or wear make-up so I wouldn't buy whatever MAC released anyway. But I would like to know that a game I've loved for so many years isn't throwing resources away on frivolous collaborations that the majority of simmers don't enjoy.

It actually does. When toddlers were patched into the game, sales went up a lot. What games like Stardew Valley call Quality of Life updates because well they increase the quality meaning the value of people wanting to purchase the game or not and sell the game to others in a way through word of mouth. I guess it is cause and effect, I've seen the factual effect that patches have had in the game and they have been positive. Otherwise why would the Sims 4 remain a live service product if they were not to update it. Just seems like a waste of money to invest in a live service and well not do it.

IDC as long as they eventually make the game fun to play. I want a chemistry system and story progression!

I've been dying for them to bring back some sort of chemistry system! I loved that from Sims 2 Nightlife.

As horrible as the MAC collaboration seems, collaborations like that don’t really bother me.

It’s when they affect the game itself, and I’m primarily talking about Journey to Batuu when I say this. What a huge disgrace and disappointment for this series. The Sims 4 had a terrible year when it came out, between disappointing stuff packs and the buggy/frustrating Eco Living expansion. To me, it hurt both of the brands more than it did any good for them.

I think part of the problem lot of their colabs are not what every day people use .Most colabs seem to be gear to up rich California types.

I think there just haven't been GOOD collabs. Moschino and Katy Perry and Mac are pretty niche w/ their content, not a lot of people would want to buy that stuff, so I don't see how those would be profitable either. I get Star Wars, but they didn't do enough with it... it felt incomplete.

A good collab would be something like H & M, where you get more bang for your buck and it appeals to most people. Like lol they should do an HGTV collab, that would actually make more sense.

The Starwars pack was just a gigantic advertisement for Disney's Starwars land or w/e it's called. It's why it was so shallow because Disney has a stranglehold on all of their IP's and not allowing for any liberties to be taken, because it's gotta be just like the parks ya know?

EA has held the development rights to Star Wars for a long time. I’m not denying that it’s a giant advertisement, but it’s not like Disney stopped EA from making some really bad SW games.

Bottom line the pack is shallow because it’s just a paid advertising deal so EA could sell Sims 4 digital cards at Disney world. That’s why the Sims 4 + Batu bundle exists.

That's true about EA owning the development rights to StarWars, but I doubt that stopped Disney from strangling the creative possibility of the pack.

I said no, but it really depends on what the collab brings to the game. It does give the possibility of something new, that we otherwise wouldn't get. And just because existing collabs may not be popular with everyone, doesn't mean there won't do be one that a lot of people love.

Thing is with the companies they collaborated, I've never heard of them, and while I'm not sure if they were trying to promote small businesses, If so... good for them!

However, The brands, designers in particular, they chose to collaborate with MAC and Moschino, neither of them had good content. Like fashion wise... Oh who am I kidding it was all ugly. I wouldn't ever consider wearing that trash. But like even if They chose Designers like... maybe I would go for Versace, Tom Ford, Louboutin, McQueen... Gucci I think is ugly... or Dolce and Gabbana I could consider them, but high end brand even still it's tricky. and Probably too expensive for the Sims 4. But even if it was a unknown/new designer, putting out new fashion would still be difficult to do. I just thing dealing with Brands and Designer products is messy, because Art is all subjective. some of the Huge Designers listed above. I look at them and their prices and I'm like "Who would pay thousands of dollars for this hideous thing?!" Sure the quality is nice, but the design? tacky. but I see something else by them and I'm like "Oh pretty."

Star wars: Journey to Batu. I understand Why they did it, however, It wasn't really... Look I'm sure there are star wars fans that were pleasantly surprised, but I don't recall anybody wanting it.

It's like if they Did a Harry Potter, To me Harry Potter is dead, the story is over. I'd be down for more spells and magical items. But... I don't want to be stuck with a world I can't edit. I fear Hogwarts would be a Shell like world where you can't edit rename or rebuild the castle. or NPC Professors and students that keep reappearing no matter how many times you delete them. I don't really want my Sim to keep getting acceptance letters to Hogwarts. My thing is I barely was able to reshape Realm of Magic to my Liking (I was able to do it with time) the lore of Harry Potter doesn't match my concept of magic and my Story's Lore, I'd be compelled to get the pack if they did it, it's just I wouldn't want the particularities to get in the way.

My thing is if we're going to collab, Like Katy Perry... I remember they did Showtime with Katy Perry and I saw her perform "Part of Me" and it turned out to be Sims 3: Showtime Trailer that was pretty cool. However, Katy Perry Sweet Treats, I thought it was cool, now it's kind of tacky. I definitely enjoy seeing Artists influence and hype Packs, but making a pack revolving around an artist and their content, no don't do that. using an artist to promote a pack, absolutely do that!"

Maybe Collabing with another Gaming Companies. I think that would be cool.
Like Nintendo, Square Enix, ZeniMax, Bethesda, Disney. I wouldn't mind advertisement, if it was actual content from another video game, that my sim could interact with the way you would in the original video game it came from. Considering I use those games as inspiration to build my own World within the game.

YES they probably should. Especially after the recent Mac makeup debacle. They clearly can't handle it. (I changed my answer to YES)
They probably should stop, for their own good. Given that EA just lost its exclusivity deal with Star Wars, I can't help but think that Journey to Batuu might have had something to do with that :D
