Edit, June 14: Please stop trying to turn this into a negativity thread, the following are my opinions from what I've experienced playing different sims games. If you want to throw a pity party about how much you hate the sims 4 then please, go to the 500 threads dedicated to that. Thank you! Now on with the thread:
I feel like people love to criticise the Sims 4 because X other game has this feature and the Sims 4 doesn't, so I wanted to make a thread on the opposite - all the features of the sims 4 which make it better than the other games. I'll leave this as an open list so if people wanna add stuff down below feel free.
- Build-Buy in the Sims 4 is the best out of all the Sims games by far.
- Sims 4 CAS is the best sims cas by far, it's easy to use, intuitive and works well. Nothing was worse than the game almost crashing in TS3 every time you tried to open the accessories tab or accidentally went into create a style.
- Sims 4 is the only sims game where you can freely go between worlds - in past games if you were in the island world you were in the island world unless you moved to another world. In the sims 4 you can be on an island one minute and in the middle of the city the next
- The game doesn't take an hour to load like the sims 3
- Apartments work well in TS4 and aren't a buggy mess like they were in previous instalments (flashbacks to throwing a party in a TS3 apartment and it took the guests 5 hours to get up the elevator as they could only go 3 at a time)
- Sims 4 toddlers are adorable and much better than any other installments toddlers
- The best graphics and UI out of all sims games
- The supernatural occults (vampires and spellcasters) are much more in depth than in past games
- More diverse sims are built into the game (lgbt couples, different ethnicities, etc)
- It works well on all computers even if your specs arent the best
- Edit: How could I forget the Gallery, that was supposed to be one of my main points! Possibly the best new feature to ever be added to a sims game, it completely changes the game and makes so many things a lot easier.
Comments
no open world - no ghosttown - many sims on lots
I do agree about CAS and Build/Buy, those are definitely better.
Also deleting Sims not causing save corruption is nice, deleting Sims in TS2 is a hassle because of that.
Also getting each supernatural in their own pack is a good decision.

-the usually buttery smoothness of the game
-multitasking (not perfect but it’s what makes it so hard for me to go back to the other games in the series)
-I enjoy other packs being implemented to cross fade into the others. Makes it feel like they expand more on the gameplay all the time. (Example you can no get bee's wax from the bee box from seasons to make candles in eco living)
-This game is more than likely to age far better than it's predecessors and not look dated. Love the earlier games, but their age shows some far more than others.
-S4 probably has a far bigger selection of quality afro-texture and ethnic hairs than any other game, which I can appreciate. Much as I love S2 there just wasn't a selection of good hairs to choose from unless you downloaded CC. So I'm happy to see more of this and hope to see even more.
-Search bar is just a god sent being able to find what you need because it was such a hassle in previous games
Personality,depth,humor,consequences,lore,customization.
Sims 4 has the best graphics (since it is also the newest game)
The UI is enjoyable though I think the UI in the Sims 2 was awesome because it managed to pack a huge load of stuff without becoming busy like The Sims 4 one is becoming after all EPs.
Apartments in The Sims 2 were better in my opinion but I think the city itself looks better in The Sims 4, so the environment. Belladona Cove in The Sims 2 is like suburbia with skyscrapers and doens't look like a city
The Sims 4 has the most diversity
The create a holiday feature from The Sims 4 Seasons is something I won't be able to live without in the next Sim games!
- the customisable holidays and calendar
- Cas: filter system so any outfit can be used in any category.
- cas: separate hairs from hats
build: the system based on rooms is the best
- multitasking : not always helpful but I don't know if I could play without it now
- space rockets and Astronaut as a separate career, not just a level in the military career. (small detail, not necessarily an improvement but I like it.
- the ability to travel between worlds
- occults with skill trees. Though I wish we had more of these in depth occults
That's all...
[Edited - Let's stay on topic]
The sims 4 is easily the best sims game in the franchise to me.
Back on-topic, I love this iteration's CAS and how I can randomize everything separately.

Sims Personalites... I much prefer them in this game as I can be more creative in story telling
Art Style... I love it! THe Sims and Worlds, items, just everything, are much more beautiful than previous versions.
CAS/build are really good too.
Toddlers, I love them!
The UI
The plain loading screen (though this is kinda unimportant to me, but I do prefer it haha)
Travel between worlds.
The ability to multitask.
And just overalll the game is more entertaining to me. I can play it for hours at a time, and years on end, without getting bored quickly like I do in previous versions.
Cas
Build/ Buy
Career Options & Flexibility
Fame System
Flexible University options (being able to take classes at home)
Clean UI
The Gallery
Vampires
Parties
Saying "not to be rude", then blatently being rude does not excuse rude behavior.
I’ll add another to keep it going in the correct direction.
-the amount of sims who show up on community lots is really nice to see. Makes the game feel more alive.
Toddlers and the calendar are the two things that jump to mind as things that make Sims 4 better than the others.
I swear I can't even build in old games anymore it drives me nuts to not have that

Vampires are most definitely better than ever.
Toddlers are the best because I actually want to play with them sometimes.
The worlds are gorgeous and feel more "filled in" and immersive. I really love this art style.
CAS, as far as physically creating a Sim, gets top marks. I'm not one who feels the need for a color wheel and since they've been adding more basic black and white and neutral swatches, I'm very happy with it. I can actually create likenesses of real people and fictional characters alike without any CC, and a variety of body types too. And something I've wanted since Sims 2 is unisex CAS, which they delivered.
The Gallery is one of my favorite things because I love getting builds from there and being able to upload all my Sims to declutter my Library.
The weather effects are amazing (despite snow having no depth.) The blizzards, the thunderstorms, and the variety of climates in each world is something completely new and adds to environmental immersion.
Some beautiful animations exist in this game that definitely rival previous games. I wish there were more, though.
The ability to travel between worlds is absolutely one of my favorite things about Sims 4. There's a freedom and variety in it and it really makes the Sim universe feel larger and more diverse.
And, of course, the diversity itself. Actually having curly hairs and a healthy selection of cultural choices and varieties in not only CAS, but some of the build/buy as well... really bumps this game up a notch for possibilities.
Finally... I'm just going to say it. First person camera. Oh yes, I'm serious. It's another thing I've wanted since Sims 2 and it makes me happy.
