Interesting backstories for premade Sims

I finally know what Sims 4 is lacking of: interesting backstories for premade Sims. Sims 2 and Sims 3 had many interesting backstories for their NPCs, but Sims 4‘s premade Sims just feel like randomly generated townies without soul.

Sims 4‘s premade Sims barely know ANYONE else besides their household members. They aren‘t friends/ have relationships good or bad with other premade Sims, there‘s no secret drama going on.

How to change it:
  • Make them have relationships with Sims living in the current world
  • Unique backstories that involve drama like death, cheating or pregnancy
  • Sims 4 has interesting relationship states like „It‘s complicated“ - make premades have these relationships and build their story around it

Here are little examples of interesting backstories from Sims 2 + 3:
Olive Specter had a garden full of ex-husbands she murdered

Mark Davis-Welles and Michael Dandy and their wifes from Roaring Heights had a bisexual love triangle, with Mark and Michael cheating on their wifes with each other, while their wifes were doing the same

Agnes Crumplebottom’s husband drowned during their honeymoon and she didn’t even finish decorating their nursery. Now she is a bitter widow hating everything love related.

Jackson Bishop from Midnight Hollow murdered Edmund Flynn and took on his name and identity and now lives together with their long lost, rich orphan relatives.

Florida Hernandez from Isla Paradiso got pregnant by Alfonso Alto, who is married and has kids

Claire Ursine was trying to hide her pregnancy from everyone, even from her ex-boyfriend living NEXT DOOR, the father of the baby while being poor and working as a criminal.

Imagine immersing yourself in a world that‘s already full of story, drama and lore, it makes the Sims feel more alive. Creating interesting backstories for Sims doesn‘t require new technology, it requires creativity!
