I don't get people's issues with realistic looking sims. Why is video game characters being hyperealstic or photoreal creepy to you? It's not too me. Look at Final Fantasy 15. We remember those semi-realistic anime characters that completely changed into normally porpotioned real life human being.

See the likeness? How is this weird? We want them to look like us! I can't make my simself because she can't look like me no matter how much I try.

huh... I do like the sims clothing, but I wish there were more "slave" "broke" clothing. Anyone agree? I think it would be cool to have very realistic sims, but at the same time if you make a sim and it looks like a person, if you ever posted the picture, they might think you're stalking them. I think if they give more options to every type of clothing, it would be way neater!

OMG... IDK, its all weird. I think i prefer the franchise to keep being cartoony and not realistic.

With all the technology around us, yes Sims 5 characters would be hyper realistic as graphics environnement as many of other franchise game.

I think Sims 5 is probably a bad idea because for one its not fair because PC players would first experience to play and us console players would have to wait 5 years just to play. Like if you agree, that the PC and console version should be released at the same time.

Not sure if I'm the only one but I've always thought ts5 could take insp from Fallout 4 since it has the perfect fix of a realistic and cartoonish style. Either that or I was thinking Life is Strange since the style is pretty similar but more realistic. I can't post links or images yet sorry otherwise I'd provide examples :(

For me, the more realistic the sims and the game is, the better!

    Wow, nice graphics.

I don't wanna feel like I'm watching Someone ... or it will be hard to kill them in game.

I don't mind some cartoonish style- it's the quality of the details and the game play that makes or breaks a game for me.

Yup...time for me to go check with a shrink.

Wasn't much of a fan of the "cartoony style". I lean towards a more realistic...sim.

Look, we're not asking for: (Detroit: Become Human)

But I, personally, would prefer something more along the lines of: Lara Croft - Temple of Osiris (2014) - that could have been the direction EA could have gone. But chose the cartoony sims for TS4. Now perhaps they could do THIS for TS5?

Fallout 76 has gone the rather realistic route, I see...

id much prefer more realistic styles - a lot of my fun comes from CAS, and it would be of great enjoyment to me if i were to be able to create a realistic person. not, like, hyperrealistic? but just... realistic.

For those who say that "there's trade-offs - you can have this; in exchange for that...", just go take a look at Kurasoberina's Tumblr. With cc and the TS3 engine - she's made Sims that look like they'd be right at home in Detroit: Become Human.

For example: Kurasoberina's Tumblr Her amazing realistic looking sim using TS3...

...with her realistic skins...its amazing what the engine that EA used to create TS3 could do - the potential there.

Like someone said, they'd go into uncanny valley territory when moving. Do not want.

I know this is late, but I do like the idea of sims 5 being more realistic (graphic vice). I do however think Maxis should stay with the cartoony part of the sims series (as in interactions) :p

YES! I think Sims 5 should strive for more realism. Sims a life simulation game after all. We simmers play our games differently, like writing dark serious stories or simply having lighthearted fun, and with better graphics (and AI) we would have even more possibilities than we have today.

If some simmers don't want to see the pores in their sims skins I'm sure there will be more clay-ish CC skins to download.

And there will always be cartoonish games out there for those who like that, and maybe a simpler version of Sims for phones.

i prefer the stylized looks of the sims 4 compared to the realistic looking sims of 3. the cartoony-ness of it just works

Personally prefer the TS2 style, strikes the right balance for me. TS4 would be second choice. As has been said, gameplay, attention to detail, and good animations/facial expressions matter more than appearance.

Would you rather a half polished game that doesn't include the other $300 worth of DLC with amazing graphics or an actual polished game without the graphics? Because trust me you aren't going to get both, this is EA not Naughty Dog.

They shouldn't be putting out a "half-polished" pile of dog-stench in the first place if they expect to make money. I expect them to put some effort into it and put out a game that is complete in every respect instead of nickel and diming us half to death.

I would hope that EA would have learned that with the backlash that they got from those who still refuse to buy TS4.

Is it just me or the sims medieval always felt like an upgraded version of the sims 3 ... their age lines, and genetics, little details made them come alive... They could do something alike for sims 5 or even sims 4...

I do think it should be more realistic then the Sims 4. Maybe a little bit like the Sims 3 that one wasn’t as cartoony. I know this has nothing to do with graphics but don’t you think instead of making expansion packs for it they should just HAVE pets and weather in the game? Island Paradise, Supernatural, World Adventures, etc are good expansion packs but I feel like the weather in Seasons and the animals in Pets should just come with the game. By the way if u didn’t get this I’m referring to Sims 3 expansion packs, I haven’t played S4 in like 4 years

In terms of character graphics, I feel like Watchdogs 2 is a nice mix between cartoony and realistic. Would definitely blend well with realistic-looking furniture, homes and worlds.
