Hello everyone
With Seasons on the near horizon {22June2018} I am considering updating some of my challenges. Specifically the beginning stages when starting without shelter. Hopefully I can get a copy of #TS4Seasons and test the impact of weather on each challenge.
Stay tuned for more information and as always thank you for supporting my creations and challenges.
I have started the challenge for the 2nd time - the first time I was doing well but went for weeks without taking any screenshots or making a note of progress so I re-started! I have made an error though, I started with a young adult couple instead of a single sim I'm not going to re-start again so it will have to do! I moved them into the largest plot on Newcrest, as the founders they needed the biggest plot!
I'm keeping a note of my progress by way of a google docs presentation! I am no story teller but there is a slide for each day. The § number shown in the panel and the house value are those at 8am on the day. I went for this as when you 1st move in it's at 8am on Sunday so it seemed a logical time of day for the daily progress. There is a little write up for each day, along with some screenshots and I will continue to update as I go!
I am just about to return to them on Friday 8am. They have a whopping §361 in the bank and oopsie but baby #1 is on the way!
@gayle_afcb Welcome to the Rosebud challenge No worries about starting with a couple. I Love Newcrest. It is a great place to play and build. Really like how you are using Google docs for your story. I use it for other things but I may have to borrow your idea for a future story.
It made sense to me to use google docs as it allows for just a short daily write up and is easy to organise & share! I don't write enough story to put it on a blog so a slide presentation seemed a good compromise.
Gazsi and Rozsá welcomed their daughter Evacska just before I left them last night! Waiting for the bills to be delivered before I carry on building the house.
All was going well - the house is built and is cheaply & sparsely furnished & I'm starting to build up funds. I had decided on a very strict 2 kids only so when baby2 was on the way that was going to be my lot... EA decided to throw me a curve ball and baby 2 became baby 2,3&4! Yep it decided to throw me up triplets - no mods, no fertility trait on the lot!! Evacska now has a baby sister Angyalka and 2 baby brothers Bálazs and Csaba!
@gayle_afcb Holy plumbob I have only rarely had triplets. Should I say congratulations?
I laughed, knowing this was one of those moments where you just sit there saying Why EA just why! I know skipping (aging up) the baby/toddler stage is ok but I had decided against it because it affects money making potential. By that I mean the time the sim spends potty training/teaching to talk etc. means less time they have available to spend doing painting/fishing to earn $$$ - I may be revising that decision when there are dirty potty's everywhere and stinking, crying toddlers collapsed over the floor!
Hey, I was just wondering what's the difference between this challenge and the rags to riches challenge. I read both rules and they are really similar
It is a rework of Rags to Riches for Sims4.
The hobo/homeless challenge in Sims 3 was adapted by me with permission of the creator. That Sims3 challenge was also updated to become Rain In My Shoes to accommodate for Sims3 seasons. It just seemed natural to carry those ideas over to Sims4 with the Rosebud achievement as a goal.
@SimsCadet Would you please share a link to the Sims 4 Rags to Riches challenge?
I most certainly would love to give credit to the creator of that challenge.
I'm having fun with it! Well now the triplets have finally aged up to kids - I did it the hard way, no aging them up quickly! Next time I go in game we are at wake up time on sim day 24 (Tues week 04) with §36,111 in the bank and a lot value of §71,885. The triplets start school as well. Now Roszá can get painting those masterpieces without having to stop all the time for yet another potty accident!! I've not written up week 3 yet - too exhausted after changing all those pixel diapers I do have the screenshots in an organised folder filed by day!

I've tried this challenge and the Solitaire 500K in the past and they're both so fun! I have one question with the updated rules for Seasons. I see there is no mention of the special lottery 'holiday' pop-up. Would it be against the rules or at least highly unadvisable for our challenge Sims to buy a Lotto ticket?
The reason I ask is because it would be an instant challenge 'win' and kinda/sorta cheaty. Your Sim is not guaranteed to win, of course, so maybe it would be allowed?
Also, I might've asked this already when I played the challenge before, but I don't remember. Can your Sim use the Wishing Well if we have the Romantic Garden SP to make a wish for simoleans? If their wish is granted, the simoleans given are really just a drop in the bucket (har har) for the challenge but it is a nice chunk of change, especially if you're just starting the challenge.
@Karababy52 Thank you for the reminder.
So far my Sims have played the Lotto and have never won.
The lotto and Wishing Well are both based on chance. Use at your own discretion.
One thing I do need to add is a comment about the Money Tree. That would definitely add money too quickly and would not use for Rosebud or Rosebud 500K
You're welcome! Okay, cool, I figured they'd both be acceptable for the reason you gave. Yeah, I've only had one Sim win the Lotto, Lyric, as you probably remember. I need to get back to her soon. Just needed a break after that infuriating proposal rejection. o.O
Oh yeah, the Money Tree. I haven't used that yet myself. I'm sure I will at some point. I loved the one in TS2. I remember having to hide it when visitors came over or 9/10 times they'd steal/harvest from my tree! Grrr! lol Of course it didn't offer no where near the amount of simoleans TS4 tree does, but it was fun! I can see how that wouldn't be allowed.
Thank you so much for the clarification and Happy Simming!
@EuphorialQueen I'm glad they made that change too, it'll help deter thieves. Although, I read somewhere on here that there is a workaround if you want to get a seed(s) from your plant to grow more. I think what you do is when the tree is ready to harvest, put it in your household inventory.
When putting plants that have produce on them in the household inventory, the game 'harvests' the plant and puts the produce in a separate stack, voila! Your Sim gets one (or more?) money tree seed(s) to plant. It's a way to get another seed(s) without having to use another 5000 Satisfaction points. Not sure if I'm remembering the exact method posted, but sounds about right.
Hello! I'm gonna do this challenge as well! I'd like to introduce you to Kai Brennan! He'll be my little play thing in this endeavor. I'm currently writing the first post, but I thought I'd tell you about him before we get that far!
His aspiration is Creative: Musical Genius. His traits are: Romantic, Bro, Dance Machine
As to how he found himself homeless and penniless in Willow Creek, well, that'll be explained in the first post once I get it posted. I'm hoping to get it up tonight, but my energy bar is yellow shading a bit orange, so perhaps tomorrow at the latest!
