Major lag when kids go to school

This is a new problem for me since parenthood, when it gets to 8am my teen goes to school fine but then the game freezes and time still moves on and I can't do anything except wait. Eventually the game continues and the other children leave for school. Not sure if there is a fix or not

This is a months old bug that started for some players with the toddler patch I think. The gurus are working on it. They have just asked players for new saves at the EA help forum, so it may still take a while.

This is what another simmer helpfully suggested on another thread as a workaround :

When it's almost time for school (around 7:50) make your window veeeery tiny. That way the game will snap back to it's usual rate. It might get stuck for a few seconds but that's it. When the kids are at school you can enlarge the window again
I know it's an annoying workaround but at least it helps.
