I had moved my sim family from their first home to an empty lot in order to build a bigger house as they're expecting another child. I realized after that I had instantly regretted my decision. I tried moving back, but it had wiped the layout of my furniture and I would have to start refurnishing the house completely. Is there a way to revert this if it had been saved?

When I move my families I always sell their Furniture (not by deleiting it in build/buy) and buy their New house furnished.
By doing that their old house will be furnished as they left it, in case I move them back or not in the mood to furnish for the New Family(if they buy it furnished).
Things I want the Family to keep I put in their personal invetory or household Inventory.

You could try rolling back to an earlier version of your save game , before you moved the sims household. To do that, go to the main screen of sims 4, and click on the " load game " button.Click on your save game file picture. Then click on the " recover game " button down the right hand side bottom of the screen,. Press on an earlier version of the save game from the menu that pops up. Then load that save game version
