Is ANYONE else having these problems: extremely LONG load times, game freezing, minutes skipping, no movement, screen black?? I have tons of free space on my comp, and the newest version of Tiger for Mac...is this suppose to be happening?? HELP.
I don't know if you haven't noticed.... or just to arrogant to care to look around... but 9 out of 10 people are having major problems even getting the game to run. Wait for the patch, if your problems persist, call EA, and check your system specs.
i played for probably 8 hours straight no problem. it was excellent.
then i quit the game and let my mac cool down for a bit [new one imac]
and i popped it in again to check something and it froze after i tried to press play for the family/neighborhood.
it freaked me out. i think ill let the mac rest up and try again tomorrow. :?
The game itself could just be glitchy. The Sims 2 had patches for every single expansion + the base game, so I wouldn't be surprised that, with as many more amazing things the Sims 3 has, it also has a longer group of glitches to fix. Then again, with the extra 4 months they took, you'd think they would try to go back and fix it.
Mine is good!! Only problem is I can't see my mouse cursor when the game first loaded. But after switching between Full Screen Mode and Windows Mode, the problem gone...
I bought it and installed it yesterday on my 'Al' iMac w/4gig ram. Some minor 'first day' hurdles with the EA site in registering, downloading Riverview and the sports car but within 24 hrs these issues were resolved - plus I even got my $10 simbucks credit for buying the CE version.
I admit I'm not an avid game player. My 10-year old niece turned me onto the Sims and it's pretty much the only games I play. In 8 hours of straight play I find Sims3 to run very smoothly on my iMac. Goodbye to load times, short screen pauses, crashes etc that I experience with Sims2. No issues whatsoever with Sims3. **** I'm having FUN!
Prior to purchasing Sims 3, I felt that my macbook met the requirements besides the fact that I'm not running on Leopard.
Specs are
MAC OS X 10.5.7
Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MB41.00C1.B00
Surprisingly, the game for me has been running very slowly even with all my settings on the lowest possible, with occasional crashes. From what I could play so far, I've been loving it but the lag kills it.

Comments
sorry you guys are having issues
This is the first time I've seen someone mistake Leopard for Tiger.
Tigers don't work. Simply don't work.
Give your money to Steve Jobs and get the new Leopard. Update it to 10.5.7 while you're at that.
