I'm sorry to hear that happened! Is it really so difficult for them to just black out someone's username? I mean seriously? Am I the only one doing this right now:
Actually, it's kind of funny you used this meme along with that point. The girl in the picture absolutely hates it because it's unflattering, hates that it went viral, and wishes people would quit using it. It wasn't uploaded by her -- it was uploaded by a friend onto instagram.

Well, they've lost my respect. To think that I used to defend a fan site that now creates exaggerated drama and can't even follow up on a single, simple, request?

I guess this post is not going to be particularly clear but I asked Alexis to remove my user name from her initial news article which featured a series of posts between SimGuruDrake and myself. This was where SimGuruDrake made the 'one bad apple' reference.
My reasons for asking SimsVip to remove my user name were two fold. Firstly I do not belong to their forum and felt it was inappropriate for them to display my user name and posts without even letting me know or asking my permission and secondly because I personally felt the whole 'bad apple' comment was taken way out of context and I did not want my username associated with such views.
After pm-ing SimguruDrake here a few times I told her I was nervous about emailing Alexis directly as she might publish my email so SimGuruDRake said she would reach out on my behalf because she didn't want me feeling like I couldn't post here safely.
Alexis PM-ed me here. I replied with a HUGE pm explaining why I wanted my username removed from her website and also explained my position on the 'bad apple' comment.
I am still waiting for Alexis to get back to me.
A few moments ago @HIFreeBirdIH PM-ed me to ask if I was the forum member Alexis was talking about. I hadn't even seen the latest post on SimsVip as tbh I don't even look there anymore as in my view her articles are just not something I find interesting. To say I was shocked would be a massive understatement.
I was actually shaking as I pm-ed @HIFreeBirdIH back and literally just could not even think straight.
It seems that my fears were founded as Alexis has published SimGuruDrakes email and has posted what I see as basically a load of rubbish. She has completely disregarded my request to remove my username form her website which would have been as simple as blacking it out with a small black line... and instead has gone on to fabricate some sort of censorship theory which is utter nonsense.
SimsVip could have just admitted that they were in the wrong publishing my username and posts without my permission and removed it as I requested. It was a pretty simple request and a pretty simple solution.
Why am I posting this? Well... already some people have been tagging me and pm-ing me asking questions, which is understandable as the whole post on SimsVip is quite incredible. The simple truth is far more mundane and rather boring... just a simple gal wanting her username removed from another fansite that she is not a member of.
I wonder what this tells us all? Are we so biased that something this simple can be blown out of all proportion? Looks like it eh?
Hmm... I believe that it is against EA's terms to request, use, or publish players' Origin/EA account information. This was explained to me when I started my pledge to boycott Sim 4 Get Together, and at that time my offsite pledge page was created because the mods kept deleting the threads related to the posts, that is to say: players were voluntarily signing the pledge with their forum usernames and that to EA was still a serious problem.
If SimsVIP is publishing players account names against players wishes, then the user account for SimsVIP should be banned.

Well your remark on how your twitter remark had me wondering what your true intentions were. I don't follow SimsVip but if I did, I would have PMed NZsimm3r to see if she knew what was going on but I wouldn't have made a tweet on the matter. I would have just left it between NZsimm3r and I while giveng her support privately.
@NZsimm3r asked me to post it. I PMed them many times on the subject, and they said that want me to post because at this point everybody knows. It was something we both agreed to, and I want to make sure that all the perspectives are given. Otherwise this just would've just turned into another "Let's Bash SimGuruDrake" circle and would've just destroyed the fragile relationship between the community and Maxis at this point.
Just some random Simmer you probably don't even follow on the gallery! Gallery name's the same as my username! Did I just rhyme there?
Thank you @NZsimm3r for coming forward and posting the other side of this. I appreciate it greatly and it helps the pieces to fit together better. This was a very brave and difficult thing to do, but it was the right thing to do too. I have a lot of respect for you because of it. Thank you.

So don't try to get the full story and actually try and figure out the perspectives on all side and just accept the little we know? Okay!
But seriously, the only good thing that's coming out of this for me is that investigative journalism is something that I'm looking at, since I was completely blank on what I want to do as a career.

I think that the fan sites are in the wrong with this. Very hypocritical since they were the ones promoting that the community be nice to the Gurus, yet they pull this. I don't get the big deal since they have had articles that don't use usernames before, but just quotes. They could have avoided this whole drama, but no risking their influencer status in order to be right and keep the article as is mattered more to them. I think @SimGuruDrake was trying to follow through on EA's Privacy Policy: http://www.ea.com/privacy-policy. SimsVIP refused to adhere to it and edit their article. Anyway she is around it seems, so hang in there my purple haired friend and hang in there NzSimm3r and HIFreeBirdIH.

Well if it was something the two of agreed upon then I wouldn't be making statements about twitter. Simply because no matter how innocent the actions are intended, people are going to make nothing into something. SimsVip proved that part all on their own even though their actions hold zero innocence. NZsimm3r comments were used as a personal attack on Drake. Drake contacted Alexis on behalf of a forum member. In reality she didn't have to do but she did anyway. Yes I understand how running forum works and how the post in SimsVip goes against the privacy rules and what not. Still drake herself didn't have to make the attempt and could of just had the legal department handle it. NZsimm3r has every right to be upset!!!!!
I get the not wanting it to turn into another lets bash drake thread. No matter what either of you two do to prevent that SimVip made it clear that is what they wanted to happen and it has!
Well as far as I can see you are the epicentre of the hurricane because you don't understand the meaning of posting in a public forum nor the meaning of a username.
I can't even begin to understand why this bad-apple comment is so important and why it should stay away from your username as if anyone even cared about you personally instead of what the guru said.
Never the less, I don't understand either why SimsVIP chose to not avoid controversy, they didn't have to and they didn't, but..well...we all know the courtesy facade people like to play to avoid issues, but all this also because they didn't follow a request from someone on something as simple as a username when it didn't even matter.
Now, I'd like to ask, will @SimGuruDrake come to all of us and email a fan site everytime something similar happens out of a whim? There could be more serious stuff happening where actual personal info is released and that's worrisome and people are worrying about something so trivial as a username? If anything all three are at fault and we should leave it at that, say your sorries at each others, and then end the drama because to the rest of the community the way I see it, all will gain some amount of disapproval (been playing way too much DA:I ).
You're wrong. EA flipped their stuft when players were voluntarily sharing their forum usernames on an offsite page that I created and I didn't even display their names. That is a rule for this community. We can quibble about whether it is a dumb rule or not, but if users in this forum can't be asked to voluntarily share their usernames offsite, then SimsVIP's forum account should be banned if she's sharing account usernames against users wishes and making them feel uncomfortable posting in this community or putting them in a situation that they would be forced to share more private information (such as their emails) to request to have their usernames removed. @SimStaffBethelle can explain the rules because I don't remember the details and I'm not allowed to delve into moderation here.
All I'm saying is from experience: using EA usernames offsite is not allowed. And while there is nothing that EA can do to SimsVIP's website since EA rules don't apply to the Internet (thank goodness for that). They can prevent SimsVIP from having full privileged access to this forum and while SimGuruDrake is open to opinions for improving the forums perhaps we can request the ability to mark post readability for members only. So that forum users of THIS community don't have to feel censored by the SimsVIP community.
I love how everyone is just getting angry with the wrong people.
Why are people mad at a fansite reporting the news as they see it? Normal media does that every day and it isn't always the full story. Yes yes they could have done due diligence and blacked out the username but the rest is the truth as they see it. If you don't agree, that is fine.
I don't think people are trying to be disrespectful towards SimGuruDrake by telling the truth as they see it. In my opinion, she has said some not so nice things in the past but hey I am working on my thicker skin. I am still confused by the comment she was disappointed in us.
Just a reminder to everyone, the root cause of this problem was an internal employee who leaked information. If you are going to be mad or disappointed with anyone it should be the leaker, even though the leaker made me happy.
Leaker, thank you for being a rebel and letting us know what was coming...LOL Sorry it caused so much drama for everyone but it was nice to have some leaks again...LOL You did cause lots of anger and disappointment that wasn't even directed towards you even though it should have. Don't worry you didn't mess too many things up. When they released the trailer, people still cheered like it was the first time they heard about it...LOL

I agreed to @HIFreeBirdIH posting my PM reply to her/him. After all, it wasn't very eloquent but was my initial and honest response the her/his news about what SimsVip had just posted.
That was why I made my initial post on this thread... I had had a few minutes to calm down and pull my thoughts together so I could post something that made a little more sense and expressed my opinion a little more clearly.
While I do have a twitter account it is more for business so I don't actually use it for sim related things and it has a completly different username, so there is no use me taking to twitter to explain how I feel about being thrown under the bus, after all, Alexis knew why SimguruDrake emailed her instead of me... as I had answered Alexis question to me in her PM long before she chose to publish all this censorshop rubbish.
Also... in response to Alexis claiming I am some kid who wants attention on her tweet. I am a mature female who has successfully worked in the public sector for some years. The whole reason this started is because I wanted my user name removed! I'm failing to see the connection between that and some deep hidden desire for attention. smh.
Anyhoo... just felt that it needed to be cleared up why @HIFreeBirdIH had made public my private PM to her/him... I agreed that despite not wanting to post anything it was probably the best thing to post something and try to put a little more balance into the situation as @HIFreeBirdIH suggested.

I don't think I'll be going on simsvip anymore. I didn't like the tone of the letter. It seemed like it was being blown out of proportion.
Thinking about it appears that the OP got thrown under the bus and was just collective damage. The post sent by Alexis to me appeared to be heartless in nature and all they care about is their cause.

Thank you for making it more it more clear. To be honest I don't think I would have done things much different in that aspect. One can only handle so much at a time and that fact that she is on twitter attacking you where you do not follow for the Sims says a lot on her character. You made a simple request for your privacy to respected and she did nothing of sort. Not once did she ever consider on how it would make you feel! She did what she did knowing all of the backlash it would cause and she just didn't care. Says a lot on just what type of person she is I think.
The one thing I learned quickly about the people on this forum is that a large part of them aren't "kids" and shouldn't be called as such. It's different for me as I am still around that age, but a lot in the forum community are parents and grandparents even! They have jobs and their own struggles. Even if @NZsimm3r was a teenager or a preteen, it still doesn't give SimsVIP a reason to be disrespectful to refuse to black out her user name, claiming that she wanted attention. I wish Alexis would just come and apologize or something or at least honor the wishes of the poster.

You know what I got out of this! A kid making a statement that an adult should act like an adult! Hats off to you!!!!
I agree that NZsimm3r didn't do anything to bring unwanted attention to herself. She asked for her privacy to be respected. Sent Alexis a PM to kindly black out her forum info. Did Alexis do that? Nope but she read the PM and then posted how she was asked to be censored and for the content to be more focused on what the conversation was really about. She decided to act like a kid instead.

The initial article really bothered me, but this is just... beyond belief. @NZsimm3r I am so sorry this happened to you. It's really awful that this got blown out of proportion, and you were caught in the crossfire. Thank you so much for sharing your side of the story with us.
Personally, I really have a strong respect for @SimGuruDrake, and am seriously frustrated that this article is being used to call her character into question. Sure, she doesn't always say things perfectly. But who among us does? And for those here that don't care for Drake, agree to disagree. I'm just stating my opinion on the matter.

*shrug*
