These Sims are dumb, making clubs limiting.

coldplay2233coldplay2233 Posts: 451 Member
My first club I wanted to create a gardeners club, where we would gather around my garden and "tend garden" "be friendly" "tell jokes"

They tend garden okay, but they keep HARVESTING which is not what I wanted! I can no longer have a gardeners club because "tend garden" seems to involve harvesting for some reason  please for the love of god, split tend garden from harvesting, PLEASE!!!

next, I decided okay I will make them a circle of friends that hangout, grill food, and listen to music.

Well, one sim grilled a plate of food. Then another sim grilled a plate of food... then another.. then another. you get it? too much food why are they making so much food they can't even all eat!

Then, they kept fighting over radio channels on my radio! one sim would change the channel, then another, then another. THEN MY RADIO BROKE!!!!

MAXIS CANT YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the end I cannot have the gardeners club i wanted, I can't have a proper hangout club who eat and have a good time. I am limited to having only "be friendly" and "clean up" in the to do list because it's the only option I have without things turning into a disaster :( What is the point in having all of these custom things for clubs when half of them just result in a disaster because sims can't think?!?!?

dumb, shallow sims I guess are the culprit here. I am so disappointed they cannot think :(

Where is my CUSTOMIZATION?!? This is not customization when you (studio) have not properly made sure all the options actually FUNCTION and WORK correctly without frustrating the player immensely and making it feel like a waste of effort and regret purchasing your expansion pack. I don't even want to USE clubs anymore because despite its "Many Custom Options", I can't customize 🐸🐸🐸🐸!

I agree you should be able to have your group's the way they should be, I am sorry that they are not working out for you, I hope they fix the problem's in the game, and make the Sim's smarter some how, :).

I have finally gotten in to using clubs - things I find it useful for:
entertainers at venues - socialize, play musical instruments, do comedy - hangout at venue with those items
Workers/helpers - socialize, clean, hobby (bake/woodwork etc) - hangout at mostly unplayed retail, cafe, restaurants for background noise.
Dating - do social things - hangout at anywhere but home.

They add a lot of color to my game by setting them up and since they are all private clubs I dont worry about anyone crashing them or doing banned activities. I set up unplayed characters in my town for flavor as I go using clubs as a way to micro manage townies. I guess I dont really use them yet for personal use except dating.

I want to create a community garden with a gardening club - I am not even really sure its possible yet, have you tried on a community or generic lot?
Mods should enhance my game, not fix it.

@Nectere - I had a gardening club meeting at a Park, but the Gardener tended to have already done everything, leaving them with no work, only socializing. I don't think that Generic lots appear as Club options, but you could call a club to one from an active Sim. Clubs also tend to stay on-lot, not wander into the surrounding neighbourhood.

the clubs are not functioning as the player wants to
the clubs are functioning within their limits

you have unfortunately to turn the thing around
not you come first with your ideas what you want the sims to do,
but you have to look what can be made with the limitations of those clubs

some clubs are functioning well, others not at all as you yourself have experienced

for me worked great so far a geek club for gaming
a 2 lovebirds club for an actual date without socializing with any of the other sims
& a professional writers club, where they write & read books

i won't be participating in the forums & the gallery anymore - thanks EA

My clubs have been affected by the new game, Dine out, I cannot set a venue for them and my Dining club cannot meet at a Restaurant.

Yes! I hate the fact that gardening includes harvesting when in clubs. Then you cannot have a group that tends flowers to keep them pretty. On my settler-world certain flowers have religious meaning, I was so happy to finally get a group of priestesses that would trend them. When they instead wrecked the entire temple I got so sad that I quit playing for a few months.

Circling back around on this garden club thing. I set up a retail lot with a tiny stand, lovely plants all around, gardening boxes, a couple yoga mats, meditation and chess sets - started a private club where the activities are gardening, yoga, meditate, play chess and socialize. I dont really plan to open the business but maybe once a month on Saturdays like a farmers market. The whole lot cost 5k, then she got another 2500 from hubs for incidentals. So far everything has been going as planned. The club members have shown up to assist my gramma in her Jardinières Club and everyone seems happy - no customers to hassle with and it just turns into a private community garden sans npc gardener.

If your club meets early in the growing cycle, there won't be many harvestables. I do this and it works fine.

I use the clubs as a social tool.

Let's say one of my sims starts a new job. I always select the "socialise with co-workers" option and you'll get a notification that they've met someone at work. I'll then create a club for my sim and add these new friends.

I select no club requirements and just one activity - "be friendly". Then it's just a case of starting gatherings to raise the relationship bars. And if you do this with every other sim in the same household, you can potentially have a huge group of friends.

@SilentKitty That actually sounds really cool. You should totally make a SimLit if you haven't already

I have no problems with the club system except for I need more club icons. There are many new ways to play with clubs, like I told those in the past. You have to play within the rules of the club systems, but I got the clubs to do what I wanted when I wanted them too. I will explain later about how the club system works, but I got to go for now so keep watch.

Sorry about the split post, but I wanted to let you know that clubs can do so many different things, the Garden Club I don't know but you should check your inventories, club members that harvest plants on a private lot should put the harvestables either in the family inventory or the leader of the club inventory if it is the club leaders house, if its a community lot they keep the harvestables.

One thing that not many know is you can link two clubs together to form chapters, since you can have more than one active club in a lot the number is kinda limitless. My Wanders club I made got too big for all its members to fit in on 8 member club so I split it down the line and created a male chapter and Female chapter and than set club hangouts and rules to match and make social rules that told them to be friendly with that club and the other club. so you can have at least 16 members in one club by using the active household as a merger. you can have 8 members in each chapter, so than again the club opportunities are endless.

It's been a while since my original post, so I thought I'd update everyone.

So I have a successful workout club now for my lot. I invite the club over for a gathering, and we use my home gym to workout and keep those sim fit and slim. It's actually quite fun, and has made it a great way to socialize and to build friendships and relationships.

But this was really the only instance so far where I found the clubs working as I wanted it, and it's a pretty simple club really. Anyway, ciao!

@coldplay2233 Maybe a little late but if you harvest all of your plants and then start gathering everything will be fine.
As for the hangout club, your right the club function isn't that smart, the sims do whatever the positive task are on repeat and just that except to take care of their needs if its been a long time. Try adding more positive task, grill food, and then maybe eat food, after a while they may stop to eat it.

That's pretty much how I do things too, right down to socialising with co workers. It saves time, to have them make friends at work.

When it comes to the clubs, I have some that are only for teens and young adults, so they have a better chance of meeting a mate.

I have clubs for children and teens, to do their homework, and meet other sims their own age. Everytime I send teens to a community lot, the only other sims that show up are adults, not even young adults most of the time.
