Hullo Mr. Monoghan. you may be unaware but I have been following your saga for quite some time and as of yesterday I learned that I was cleared to come into this forum by Simstaff Bethelle, even though I am using the same device as my roommate, and. well, at long last I can personally compliment your absolutely smashing writing talent and thank you personally for the respectful and surprisingly quite accurate use of my sim-likeness in your story.
I had the Devil's own time finding this thread and wanted to spring myself on your thread just this once to recognize your hard work, and to express how delighted I am that you returned to the original story. You do rather love to roam, don't you, my good man!
Yes and finally, I nearly felt an actual sense of loss when I read that your central figure in the entire saga now whiles the hours of eternity pushing up daisies. I adored that grouchy old bloke and his presence shall be missed.
But of course I shall read on, so I'll close with a favourite expression, "Sally forth, old man! The best chapters are yet to be written!"
PS Please note, to clarify as I realise it has a different application among the colonials: "old man" in the British sense, as that is the brand of English I learned.
With all due respect, sir:
Rubbish! I'll not have that. One may receive as many material and personal notes and facts as they like, but it takes a specialised talent to weave those into an easy to read and eminently enjoyable story. It's the difference between me and, let's say, Stephen King. Same basic material, one of us creates bestsellers, the other wastes trees.
And not having met or conversed at length with either of us, even Miki was rather astounded at how well you caused her sim to come across in that segment of your yarn, right down to "utter lack of scruples", well, almost. Let us leave it at "selective lack of scruples".
I do look forward to seeing where you go next with your base story and any tangents that "might" crop up, but as I do not have a Wordpress account I honestly have nowhere to click "like" except perhaps on this thread.
I am in the process of seeking out and offering my heartfelt thanks and best wishes to other storytellers whose tales I have read or am in the process of reading. From strictly the point of view of this reader, with the exception of the fella who wrote "The Wolff Legacy" your writing style is none too short of professional grade.
Might I add, referring to what my Sim might have told you when she was in the story:
Please accept my remarks as genuine and accurate and, well, failing that? "Where I come from, people who disagree with me . . . disappear."
Now, we wouldn't want that, now would we?
EDIT That "prison facility" you created for Fey Johnson and put my simmified likeness in charge of. That was priceless and I truly hope you do not mind, I captured a screen of it and saved it to my personal files. "I" honestly would felt completely at home in her stead. If by chance you are opposed to my keeping that screenshot, please advise and I shall delete it forthwith.
As I do not have a "blog" I hope it is at least somewhat acceptable to leave brief comments here in lieu of "likes" and whatnot on the bottom of each chapter.
So as not to risk "ploughing it on too thick" as the expression would have it, I merely wish to say "I enjoyed this installment as well as the the intervening chapters between this post and my last."
All the better to minimize "forum clutter"
Meanwhile along with my immersion in "proper" English came some background information and my favourite part of Chapter 84 has to be the reference to "Landed gentry". Not too rich, as the aristocracy or peerage but definitely not common street rabble.
