The carpets i downloaded from mod the sims http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=544162, its a set that has part 1 of all sims 2 carpets concerted to the sims 4 and they look great!! The wallpaper with flowers i made myself everything else is already in game.
The wallpaper looks great. I am not really enamoured with any of the provided wallpaper

Dotted around the forum, I have seen folk post some screenies of builds in progress, so it inspired me to have a go at something.
Anyhow, I built this (needs some tweaks). I used the National Park Lot Type.There is no kitchen, so all cooking has to be done on the outdoor grill.
It appear that this lot type doesn't yet attract visitors, so makes a nice little love nest

I am enjoying looking at all the screenshots from everyone's games! I love a lot of the downloadable content items but I'm still not brave enough to try them in my game yet. But these pictures are tempting me! Great photos thanks for sharing

If you like the aesthetic of some of the CC, then I would say go for it. CC and mods are very, very easy to install - and remove. Unlike a lot of other games, CC/mods don't appear to get baked into the save file.
I do understand those that don't want to mess with the aesthetic of the vanilla game, however. But if you want to add more content in, then there is a lot to choose from and it enhances the game significantly, IMO.
I have modded a lot of games and I think this is about the safest I have ever experienced.

Maybe this came with the grunge update. The grill does have that grunge look when dirty.
