I knew it was going to be great. It kinda made me wish I spent a little more time with my lot. I am working on an advanced build with my husband right now. I will let you know when I get it uploaded and maybe you can give me some pointers. It has been real frustrating.
Wow, these are some great creations for the newest challenge. My close week is over with and I think I have an idea. I dunno if I can get it done in time for the challenge. I'll have to get it done this weekend or it won't get done. I'm going to rec and download the one's that don't have CC. (sorry but I just don't want CC in my game due to past bad experiences)
Looking at these creations have helped as I wasn't exactly sure what to even attempt to build :-). Now I at least have some ideas...just have to find the time to work on them.
Finally! I am ready to submit my entry to the Candy Crush Cottage Build and Share Challenge! I have been enjoying viewing all your entries. Will be going around to all the studios and rec'ing ASAP :-)
Here's my entry. Hope you like:

OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM for the Candy Crush Challenge #205-206
LEVEL: I think I am a beginner to intermediate builder
LOT SIZE ADDRESS & FINAL COST: To Come -- this lot is in Sunset Valley and it cost just under $75,000 to build. I will add these details next time I get to open my game.
LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS: 20 x 20 lot, Sunset Valley. Not sure what other details you would like.
CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: Yes, please. That would be awesome.

Solanaceae2 - I got your build recommended. I like the inspiration cake! So pretty! The architecture of your build is very pretty. I like how the colors and decor (the large roses I love but can never seem to use in any of my own builds) match the cake so closely! You took your inspiration picture to heart and that is a good thing! I think the landscape is a little barren especially for the beauty of the house and the budget you were given. Don't forget that terrain pain is free! I would have added some dirt or stone under the fire pit and chairs next to the pool. I do like the pergola and the rose bushes, however, once again, there should be dirt under them to make it more appealing to the eye and realistic! The interiors are pretty. I especially love the shape and layout of the kitchen. Once again, it reminds me of your inspiration picture of the cake and that is a good thing. I also like the red bedroom a lot. Your entry form says you only used a little over 72K of the money allowed... next time make sure to get closer to the 75K allowed and add some extra decor like plants and pictures to your interiors! They will make a huge difference! Overall, I think you did an excellent job! I love the architecture!
Thank you so much! I was never able to find a way to incorporate those large roses before either, but I LOVE them so I was really excited to finally find a way to use them. I was not very impressed with my landscaping either, actually. I'm not very good at landscaping, do you have any suggestions (in addition to the terrain paint under the rose bushes)? Or maybe there's a thread or tutorial or something that deals with landscaping that you could share with me?
OPTIONAL CHALLENGE: There isn't one that I know of.
LEVEL: First Time doing the challenge, but I've been designing these for a while. So i could be a Beginner or Intermediate depending on your perspective.
LOT SIZE ADDRESS & FINAL COST: 2350 Pinochle Point, Sunset Valley. 20x20 lot. It costs 73,753.
LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS:
Welcome to 2350 Pinochle Point. Ever wanted to live in a giant marshmallow? No? Well too bad, this is a really sweet deal. Coming in just short of 75,000 this 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home is an astounding feat of engineering... literally I put it on a stick. This designer even thought to put in an elevator instead of making you walk up and down stairs all day. Can you imagine how much time and effort I saved you on grocery day?
CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: Sure

Here is my inspiration. My build is still a few days out though. I am still tweaking furnishings and wrestling with the budget, but it looks pretty swell, so I can't wait to show it off! I will update this post with my entry form when it is ready.
****UPDATE****

Candy Crush Cottage
Level: Advanced

Constructive Criticism:Yes
Credit to Simmers for CC used: As always thanks to all the creative artists at TSR I can't say enough great things about them. All cc in this build can be downloaded from http://www.thesimsresource.com/. Thanks again, you guys are AMAZING!
Wow this build and the last one are amazing! And i'm so glad you told us about TSR literally the best place for getting cool stuff and you make an account and you get alot of nice stuff even without buying the subscription!!

You're welcome! If you frequent the today only page you can get many of the subscriber items as well- all of my subscriber only were acquired this way. I used to be afraid of cc. But honestly it's worth it. If you encounter something that causes crashes simply load your game without cc turned on then the bugged item will be replaced by the system and finally you remove the item from your installed folder.
The biggest drawback is that this website will not allow you to upload anything with non-EA cc onto the exchange.
I used to take part in these, but had to stop simming until I got a new computer. I would just like to say that I preferred the old challenges, where it was as if -I- was the decorator and designer and a client would tell me what they wanted. I don't really like the new challenge, especially because it's candy crush themed and I just hate it. It made me not want to compete and I think it should be what the challenges used to be like. Surely I'm not the only one that feels this way?
I was really looking forward to getting back into these challenges and was just so disappointed that they had changed and had now inspiration from candy crush, of all games.
However, looking forward to what's in store for the next challenge.
where it was as if -I- was the decorator and designer and a client would tell me what they wanted
Yeah I miss that delivery format as well. However, I feel like the spirit of the challenge is still here without it.
As for the candy crush theme- it does not have to be candy crush it can be ANY sweet type image. I used pudding cups- others have used cakes and other richly decadent treats. So while you are always free to participate or not, disliking candy crush is sort of a moot point.
That challenge was due 7/4 and was closed, my wife is still waiting for the results.
I feel ya, the judging used to take a week or so- but I think the problem is that the judges are all busy with real life obligations. So it's been slow going for a while now.
IMO the best thing about these challenges is that it gives me a creative outlet- and more reason to play. Solving the problems presented in the challenge gives the game more flavor too.
Of course now I am just waiting patiently for the next challenge to post!
LOT SIZE, ADDRESS & FINAL COST: Again on an added lot-no address, 20x20, $74,599
LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS: A 2br 1ba, English country cottage
This house mimics a caramel and pecan crusted granny smith apple drizzled with chocolate.
I once again combined my love of the historic within the parameters of a BNS challenge. The house plan is a 1911 Brickbuilder competition house by J. Theodore Hanemann; NY, NY.
“…the “Brickbuilder”, an early 20th Century trade publication. Having sponsored a nation wide competition, the publication received over 650 submissions from around the country. The 100 top entries were published in 1912 in a catalog distributed by the Brickbuilder, and have been republished in a book called 100 Turn of the Century Brick Bungalows with Floor Plans. There were two requirements for entry, first the bungalow had to be built of brick, and second it had to come in at a cost of $3000 or less. I love these projects for their simplicity but even more so because of Brickbuilder’s attempt to make the resulting projects affordable by keeping the cost requirements low.”
CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: YES
CREDIT TO SIMMERS FOR CUSTOM CONTENT USED: I don’t know where most of it came from since all custom content I got from downloading previous BNS entries by others.
I miss PerSIMon Grove.
EleneK- your CC is all from TSR- or at least what I saw was. I like your build a lot. Whereas most of the other builds were literal translations of the inspiration pic, yours translates the feeling/ mood of the candy apple. The mood you set by color usage makes me think of a brisk fall morning and I can almost hear the words: "Trick or Treat" when I look at your pics. Also nice work on your garden, it took a lot of patience to get that to work and you should be proud of it.

Thank You. It even has the stick coming out of the center. I love gardens. Even my real house has potted plants and ground plants everywhere. I actually got both Hidden Springs an Lucky Palms just to get the plants. My old computer had a lot of stuff from TSR. Almost everything I had came from either TSR or ModTheSims Eventually, I ran into a problem with my game taking 20-30 minutes to load. I had one house that once I got into it I couldn't leave and make my sims go around town. I'm not sure if it was the amount of content I had, the amount of memory (or lack thereof) on my old computer, or a bad object. When the game finally bit the ghost I reloaded base game with no content. Still, I can't stay away from plants. The new computer is a better machine and handles the content load better but I am starting to see that certain items stay white a little longer than they should when the house loads.
I have a question about the photographs for the contest.
Can the photos be altered in any way, shape, or form? Can they be cropped or framed? Can they be sharpened or warmed up?
I'm not a moderator but yes. Your build is judged on your media. You not only want but need your images to look as good as possible. If you need to crop then do it.

We are awaiting all of that ourselves. My wife has entered the last two contests, so we are kind of new to this ourselves.
