To pay over £1000 for a game is ridicules (£1000 for 1,2,3 and 4 depending on the price of 4 it could be more) I wouldn't put it passed them to make 5, 6 and 7 as well. I mean would you if you were making that amount of money. I agree that sims 4 had to come I couldn't wait! As technology progresses so will the game but like I've said many times, it is to soon.

Okay, let me get this straight: EA is supposed to hold off making the Sims 4 until *you're* ready? What cheek! as they say on your side of the pond.

    No I'm not disappointed. :D
New products that replace old products is just a fact of life.

If TS3 can't be improved then what are those 21 thousand topics in ideas and feedback about?

-I want sims with more depth, personality, and smoother animations.
-I want graphics that take advantage of my 64-bit computer and DirectX 11 video card.
-I want more say in what story progression is allowed to do.
-I want emergent behaviors in social AI.

I can go on and on with improvements that probably won't be tweaked into TS3.
There are also a lot of business reasons why EA has to move on, but it would all make this post too long to read.

Girl, I'm right behind ya. I'm more then dissapointed. I opened up my launcher and saw the news and felt this sinking feeling in my stomach. I absolutely love The Sims 3 and see no problem with it whatsoever. I understand why they can't fix any more bugs but, like someone else said, can't they just bring it out again with the fixed bugs.....but like, not to pay for, a sort of free installment for Sims 3 owners to download so their game is good as new??? I'm really sad and feel like my day is ruined (lol @ dramaticness) :(:(:(

Like Phoebesmom601 said, we do move on. And I will back you up on that. But I still feel sad :(

Goodbye. I am now going to rest in my grave.

Why are you being so rude to people! It's my opinion if you don't like fine but don't post nasty, sarcastic, horrible things to people because you don't like my opinion or anybody else's opinions.

Also like to add I've never said what cheek in my life and I'd rather not be stereotyped.

    Oh, how quickly they forget!

Anybody remember last summer when the Ideas and Feedback forum was littered with posts bashing both EA and the Sims 3, and some were even demanding that EA come out with The Sims 4, because it *has to be better than this piece of (Sims 3) trash!*

Anybody remember that? Because I can sure remember getting into it with more than one popular player here over the merits or lack thereof of the Sims 3. Isn't it amazing how suddenly people have decided what a *wonderful* game the Sims 3 is and how EA should stick with the tried and true?

And as for remakes of expansion packs....how quickly people forget all the threads *demanding* remakes of Pets, Late Night, Vacation, Open for Business, Superstar...EA would not have made them if the fans hadn't screamed for them. So what the heck is *your* problem folks?

Could the real reason behind all this fuss is people being upset because EA never got around to making *their* favorite expansion pack, such as a farm expansion pack, an amusement expansion pack, and so forth and so on?

    I think that's it.

I already can't wait for TS4. If Maxis delivers what they've hinted at, I feel it'll be a true return to form for the Sims series.

I remember when TS2 first came out and how I loved it instantly. It was unquestionably an upgrade from TS1. I loved how the Sims were aware of each other, I loved how fluid it felt (from the Sims' movements, the animation in general, even the camera controls), everything seemed to 'fit' perfectly. I played TS2 all the way until the release of TS3, when I switched over. Don't get me wrong, I liked the game, but something seemed... off. You know when you're househunting in real life, and you find a house that on paper has everything you're looking for, and yet it doesn't 'feel right'? That's exactly how I felt. Rflong7 and Cinebar I think got it spot on.

I simply couldn't get attached to my Sims in this game. First of all they looked ugly, and no matter how many tweaks in CAS I made, the weird pudding face syndrome remained. And that wasn't it, they just seemed lifeless. I remember in the pre-launch fanfare the developers enthused about how much personality the traits brought to the Sims, but I found the opposite to be true. My Sim is flirty? Well demonstrate to me! Don't wait for me to direct you! Live a little autonomously! Wishes would pop up for her to flirt with someone, but there's no way I would've guessed that if I didn't read it. If she was in the company of someone she was attracted to, a moodlet told me so. Not my Sim, not her behaviour, but a moodlet. When socialising romantically, she'd react all loved up during the interaction, and then snap straight back to a lifeless robot when done. When she had a baby, it wasn't a Sim... it was a larvae. When she went to work, she magically teleported into her car (which she produced from her backpack, obviously) and zoomed off, running down several cyclists along the way. There was basically a lot of niggling things that felt rushed, or made by someone who didn't 'get' the spirit of the Sims, and that's why I'm glad the time has come to move on. :-)

Some people, Jarsie. When you say "people" it sounds like you mean all people and it isn't.

And sure, maybe some are wanting their favorite. I would love my favorite to be made for TS4. Which could be the Amusement park or Vacation. Never thought WA was a Vacation pack. :D

Really ready for The Sims 4 here. The Sims 3 had a poor foundation, I think, and so nothing really intrigued me after the base game. I really think they've milked TS3 of all its worth, the stuff they're pulling out now ... well, not for me. At all.

    Ready for something fresh - TS4! :D

I shouldn't keep my expectations too high though - overall, TS3 was a serious disappoint for me, and I don't want to feel the same as I did with TS3 when I get TS4.

I've never demanded sims 4 or any of the expansion packs and probably many people haven't. I've never actually posted anything in a form until today and I have never tried to have a say in what they make. What people are saying is they would like seasons and other things built in to the base game. Lets face it without weather it gets boring. People know that EA are not likely to do this as they would loose profit on a game that they can sell for another 20 or so pound and fair enough they are a business but I think that's what is winding people up and again fair enough.
Personally I love sims 3 and I don't think it's trash What cheek that people would call it trash. No only joking I can see why people who are into graphics and things like that don't like it and mine crashes constantly but I still love it.

I'm feeling pretty optimistic about Sims 4 actually.
It's a whole 12 or so months until this is on the shelf and there is at least one more ep and sp for 3 in that time.
The beauty of the cd thing is that it'll still work years down the line. If you like TS3, stick to TS3. There are tons of folks who still play 2 even after all these years.
Just because it's for sale doesn't mean you have to get it. :D

You're right, I stand corrected. *Some* people is more accurate, but there were a lot more negative posts about the Sims 3 than positive ones, and I clearly remember being called an EA fangirl because I *dared* to defend the Sims 3.

I've just come to the conclusion, some like to have something to gripe about. No matter what EA (or anyone for that matter) does it's never going to be good enough for some.

Initially, I was disappointed in the announcement of the release as well. Then I realised I never really liked Sims 3 that much at all, especially the characters (Sims) themselves. As has been said before, they look strange, move awkwardly and they're just unappealing overall.

Hopefully Sims 4 will be a much better experience.
