How Does Your Sim Deal With the Big News?

«1
GalacticGalGalacticGal Posts: 28,570 Member
She told her husband about her Big News. He gets a perplexed look on his face, embraced her and when she leaves the room, he immediately brews a pot of calming Camomile tea! That's how my Sim just dealt with it. Just because this makes baby number six

He acted shocked, sat down on the bed, and rolled a whim to buy something for at least 500 simoleons. I guess he thought his days of irresponsible spending were about to be over.

Had a surprised, 'say, what?' expression and then went back to researching on the computer.

Some of them look surprised at first, then forget what they just heard and go continue whatever they were doing. Some of them make a sad face and spread their arms as a first reaction which always makes me laugh because they look like thinking that they've made a huge mistake and their life is over. :D

How do I deal with the big news is the more important question here.
I don’t care what my sims thinks. When I hear about “the big news” I usually move the pregnant sim out of the house pretending nothing ever happened. 😆

It depends. The last time it happened, the guy acted excited and then did a fist pump in the air :D Turned out his wife was pregnant with triplets haha. Not long after they became toddlers, I got a screenshot of both him and his wife napping on their bed :D:D

I don't remember the details, as it was quite some time ago, but he took the news very well. He was sitting on the couch, she sat next to him and told him the news. It was a baby they both wanted.

Why did I not know all this complexity was possible!? Is it Sims 4 we're talking? All I recall ever happening in that game was everyone, no matter who they were or what the relationship was, acted the exact same across-the-board happy. No matter whose it was, no matter what the circumstances.

Has this changed, or was I just unlucky?

For my current Sim household, when Blake shared the news with TJ that she was pregnant, the expression on his face was priceless. I just wish I'd have zoomed in and got a closer screenshot of it. The one I did take doesn't do the expression justice:

He autonomously hugged her after that shot was taken, which I thought was sweet.

It’s been awhile since I had pregnant sims, so my memory’s hazy.

I vaguely remember… One of my sims in one household looked a bit tense/anxious or sad, while another sim in a different household looked surprised, but then really excited. (The second one was one of those Family Aspirations sims with a Family-Oriented trait, so that could be why, lol.)

I had one sim a while ago he was hot headed and hated children. He got mad, stomped his feet and marched out to his wood working bench in the “garage”. He was a right red plumbob about it throughout, and ended up having a terrible relationship with the whole family.

Oh, my I didn't expect to get a morning chuckle out of this thread but thank you. Maybe they can give the baby the name, Dragon?

Mine has always worked this way. I fell in love with this iteration of the Sims on day one. I pre-ordered it and have played since release. It just keeps getting better and better. So, perhaps you've been asleep at the wheel? It could also lie in which Traits you give your Sims.

Oh, that's terrible. LOL I had a friend whose boyfriend and father of her child, kicked her out when she was nearly nine months along! She was homeless, but my hubby and I took her in on a temporary basis.

Oof that's tough. You were very kind to take her in. <3

Of course I wouldn't do to my sims what I'd do in real life, I mean I wouldn't do in real life what I'd do to my sims. The place would be mayhem.
I'm a pretty decent guy as far as I know... :D

@ignominiusrex Definitely not all happy reactions to the Big News or when the mother learns she's pregnant. I don't think it's random, but I don't know what it depends on.
Most of my sims react like this

but my unmarried first-term college student sim reacted like this

I had a bad real life experience. My ex-boyfriend went off-the-grid instead of caring about his child that I was carrying. I tried so hard for him to want to be apart of my daughter's life, but he just said that his child didn't need a father. I never understood that. When my daughter asked me about her father all I could say to her was that he ran away. She eventually got over the fact that she didn't have a father in her life, but it sure took me over 16 years to get over that. However, my daughter now is a beautiful 26 year old young women who just has fawned memories of her late Grandpa who just loved her so much. God bless my late Dad.

I don't recall any unexpected reaction, but I did notice the reaction might vary a bit, and I think that's cool. Mostly I see the happy light surprise, but I don't remember if my female sims mostly tells her friends or her hubby, LOL.

Probably because the game won't allow her to sign up for a next term. Perhaps your Sim knows this already. Poor thing, she just looks so forlorn.

@SERVERFRA Wow what a way to become a mother. I'm sorry you went through that. It sounds like you did a wonderful job raising your girl. <3

@GalacticGal Fortunately she was living at her family home-- her parents had recently died, her brother was also in college and she didn't want to leave her teen little sister at home alone. So she completed all three terms in a row, while raising triplet babies. The great-grandparent ghosts helped, when they weren't too busy breaking stuff. :) Potions of Plentiful Needs helped as well.

Sounds as if she was beginning to feel the weight of being the 'responsible one' in the family.
