Horse and cow breeding and chickens

Can horses be bred? I THINK that new chickens can be hatched. Can they be sold? Is there a limit on how many chickens you can have in one hutch? I assume that the three cows you get with the cow corral is all you get.

All you get are milk and eggs out of the Milkin' It Dairy and Fowl and Feathers Chicken Coop, unfortunately no breeding involved although, that's a hope for Sims 5.

Is it possible to sell horses for a profit. An example would be to adopt one, train it and then sell it?

You can get chicks in the chicken coop. Just skip a day of collecting the eggs, and a couple of days later, there will be chicks. Your sims can pet them and play with them, but in a few days, they will disappear, supposedly having flown away.

As to horses, yes, you can breed them, train them, and sell them. If you take them to competitions at the equestrian center, and they win, they will be worth more. Also, if one or both of their parents are champions, they will be worth more. Adopted horses will also be worth more after training and winning competitions. Also, you can take a male to the equestrian center and earn money with his stud services, and the more competitions he has won, the more he will earn.

Seems to be a conflict of information here. @IreneSwift If you breed them do you get colts?

Horse are different - you can breed, train and sell them - they are a fully playable "pet" in the same way as the dogs and cats whereas chickens and cows are just "decorations" that cannot be interacted with outside of the feed and play with commands.

Yes, if you breed two horses, you can get a colt and like the dogs and cats, they will get traits (similar to their breeding parents).

@Rhiannon58 - Here's a bit of friendly advice if you haven't discovered it, yet. When dealing with chickens, keep a handy supply of sweetgrass nearby. When your Sim collects a putrid or horrifying egg they will get the 'nauseated' moodlet, eating the sweetgrass will instantly remove the sickness, allowing you to get on with your day uninterrupted.

Yes, you get foals when you breed horses.

You don't breed chickens. As said above, if you don't collect the eggs there are tiny chicks for a few days that your sim can play with before they vanish.

Foals can sleep in a stall with one of their parents. When they age up, they'll need a stall of their own, if you want them to use one. But horses can sleep outdoors and eat grass, and drink from an outdoor watering trough or a pond, except when it freezes in the winter, so they don't have to each have one of their own. I prefer to have one for each horse, so long as my sims can afford it, though if there's plenty of room in the barn, they can still sleep inside without a stall.
