Supersim Type Collaboration Idea

StormyDayzStormyDayz Posts: 4,035 Member
**This will (hopefully) be an ongoing SimLit collaboration. Anyone should feel free to jump in as you have ideas. There are no limits on how much or how little you participate if you choose to.**

No one knows who he was or even if he really existed. Shaky footage of a man feeding children triple doses of cowplant milk was released to the public. No one knows what became of these child victims, or if they survived.

The video roused public outrage. Activists gathered outside Sim Agency demanding answers. Protests were held in every crevice of San Myshuno. Politicians found themselves at the forefront of media scrutiny and criticism.

Conspiracy theorists quietly patted themselves on the back. All those nights of tracking, bug planting and staking out around The Facility had paid off, especially when that truck rolled in and two of the children’s faces peeked out from behind the window blinds. That was all the incriminating evidence they needed.

No one actually knows what happened in the isolated, highly-secretive facility. And towards the end when the national leaders finally addressed the public’s concern and disbanded its operations, none was still the wiser.

Any claims of human experimentation were adamantly denied. Theorists were furious, accusing leaders of covering their tracks, disposing evidence, and modifying memories. But with the passing of time and the controversial program no longer existing, people began to forgive and forget. Normalcy resumed and the Facility and its news were no more.

In the end, whatever outcry there was, was forgotten and chaulked up to conspiracy theorists. Later it would be said that there were no children at all and that it was a hoax and media frenzy.

Time is supposed to heal all wounds, likely it just makes things easier to forget but now there are whispers that it has begun again. The first children, now adults, may no longer be able to forget their terrible past. For some, their memories are starting to awaken, while others had their memories the entire time…

The question is how will they react? How did their strange upbringing affect them? And, when the first contact is made, what happens next?

Goals: Like Pinstar's Wonderchild and Carl's Super Sim...

As a young adult, they should have Top Notch Toddler, the four childhood aspiration traits, the 5 character value traits, and the scouting aptitude trait. How far you go from there is up to you. In some people's super sim playthroughs, they attempt to top every career and complete every aspiration. I don't know how far I'll go with it. More than anything I just want to concentrate on one sim for the most part.

What makes this a collab is that our kids were raised together in an experimental facility. Which is why they're so smart. In current-day, they are all at some point in their young adult years. One of them (who we can make or can just be a "voice on the line") discovers that there may be a new facility being run and begins to contact the others. In my case, since I'm playing this in the "now" it'll lead to memories and flashbacks.

I'm doing it that way because I don't want to do the long drawn out raising of the kid and taking tons of screenshots. In the Alien Adoption collab, I quit when my alien kid aged to teen. I'd like to get to their actual life as a grown-up because, frankly, I think his life is hilarious even if it is seriously messed up.

I imagine everyone would have different thoughts on how growing up like that might influence a kid. Maybe it would be something as simple as wanting a huge family. Or having commitment/trust issues. You can start your story from any point in their life. From the beginning, when they leave the Facility for foster care, or when they're already a young adult.

We'll have to all have a copy of the facility, some staff, and each other's kids in varying ages for screenshots.

Rules:
  1. You can use any parentage. (see Carl's guide for ideas)
  2. You can give them any traits you want.
  3. You can switch aspirations to get satisfaction points.
  4. You can use potions, parenting skills, and any other non-cheaty methods to max needs.
  5. You may use mods or cheats to maintain needs for any of the other sims living in The Facility or the foster home.

Timeline: Toddler to partway through teen in "the facility." Teen to YA in a foster home of your choosing.

I like the idea! It sounds fun!

Depending on what the ultimate purpose of the program, what phase was it before it disbanded and how much socialising opportunity the kids get amongst each other, were they pitted against each other, or was the competition friendly, were the instructors kind. The sims can get any characteristic and its justifiable! Awesome.

I’ve never done any collab before. But this sounds very interesting. There must be a purpose for the flashbacks right? How does it influence the YA stage? Or is that up to me?

Oh, gee! I really like this! I think I might be up for participating! It sounds like it could work sort of like our alien adoption collab, right? You could shout out on that thread for participants or on the Lounge. I'm happy to tag a few collaborators or put out calls for you.

@mercuryfoam I'd love to be in a collab with you!

    Cool idea, Rainy!

@mercuryfoam I'm not sure exactly what the ultimate purpose of the program would have been. I picture them trying to create psychics or super-soldiers or spies or something like that? As to what phase it was in I want to say that they were in some way successful. Maybe not with all of the kids but they changed something in some of them. What that is is only limited to the imagination... and game mechanics. :D

In my mind, I think the adults working there would be very clinical treating the kids like experiments, not children, ya know? As to how the kids themselves treated each other I suppose it would vary. Some might have been competitive and attention-seeking. Others might have just tried to keep their heads down. Really, I guess it would depend on what type of person you want them to be when they're aged up... not to say that bullies can't grow up remorseful and kind, of course. Maybe they were kept in different groups so they didn't all meet each other? Maybe some were more solitary? Hmm... lots to consider.

@CathyTea Glad you like the idea. I know it's crazy... just wait 'till you see my guy! Well, not that I've made him yet but what I have so far in my head is hilarious. Maybe I'll make a rough draft of a chapter to share. ;) I'll go ahead and link on those threads. It's just been a long time.

Two years is probably closest to the truth other than occasionally dropping in! I decided not to link in the Alien Adoption collab thread since it hasn't seen a comment in 5 months.

Oh my goodness, I would love to be in this! How old should our sims be? Actually, I have a very pretty sim that I haven't found a story for yet - maybe she could be in here?

Ooh! And I'd love to build a facility! I can feel the ideas flowing now...

I plan to start my chapters with my sim already a young adult and fairly high up in the science career so I have some behind-the-scenes work to do to get him to that point. Everything before that age will be flashbacks or memories within chapters. Some people might want to make theirs still teens like they're in foster care after the facility closed. The nice thing about doing it that way is if someone wants to participate months from now it's so biggie because nobody's on an exact same timeline.

That would be awesome if you built it! I kinda picture something really sterile and more like a prison, ya know? It looks normal but has some area maybe in a basement that nobody knows about. ;)

Perhaps he after many years is ready to keep in touch with some friends he made online and some of the flashbacks are him talking with them and sharing memories? That way he's not just talking in his head. Just an idea. I've never done a collab before, but I imagine that my character would eventually look up their friends to bring some closure to the experience.

@mercuryfoam sent me here by the way. I think this might be a fun project. Do you have a cast in mind or can anyone jump in the story? Should we share uploads of our sim in different ages to share?

@PitlordMaggie The way I was thinking of starting mine is with my guy getting a phone call from a friend saying that they think there's a new facility and are trying to locate it... something like that. We could do the talking/chatting. For the Alien Adoption collab, someone set up a mock discussion board thing. It was really neat so yea that might work. Or even mock text messages. Or maybe letters in the mail for some of them. That's what I did with my AA collab partner. She'd write a letter and email it to me and then I'd write a response and put them both in my next chapter. (Example: Alien Adoption Ch 11: Going Underground)

Anyone can jump in. I have mine set in my mind as a sort of mad scientist/doctor/brainiac and I want the person I mentioned that calls him to tell him they think there's a new facility. I think they'd be good as military or a secret agent something like that. I figure if nobody wants to do that I'll just do both characters in separate saves or something.

Once we have a facility and maybe some staff on the gallery I'd say we could start sharing our sims for screenshot purposes. Probably the same sim in every lifestage in one gallery link like toddler/child/teen/current? Whenever we get to that point we'll need to think up a hashtag. I still wish we could think of a different term than super sim. That's too common.

Ooh yay! I'm excited to collab with you too! <3 I'm very pleasantly surprised given how busy you are!

@mercuryfoam sent me here by the way.

 Double yay! You're here! And I love the idea of the kids attempting to reach out to each other. I'll def make my sim do that.

@mercuryfoam I'm not sure exactly what the ultimate purpose of the program would have been. I picture them trying to create psychics or super-soldiers or spies or something like that? Okay! I took a peak at the Alien adoption collab thread to see how it works. So we'll each download a copy of each other, the facility, the adults, and put our own spin on how it influenced our supersim and their direction in life. Gotcha.

I'm going to think up my sim's bio and how this experience affects her. I'm assuming occults are allowed since it may be the reason why the organisation chose the said kid? We'll also need some adults taking care of the kids right? Happy to create some. What roles are there in the facility apart from scientists and carers?

@Xantheanmar Thanks for building the facility!

Very interesting plot and ideas - I'll definitely try to keep an eye on this (not sure I'm up for a collab since I'm the ultimate gamer hermit). You'll be posting on your blogs too, right? - @Rainydayz179 and @CathyTea?

I'm thinking I'd do mine as a Wonder Child ISBi, maybe only covering the childhood years! I'll probably be a slow writer/participant, because I'm still super absorbed in ESO and my work is still crazy busy! But I'm halfway hoping to be forced to choose to retire (because I surely won't choose to go back to the office, if required to) and that would open lots of time to play!

Hi guys! I made a possible Introductory Blurb for this:

10 years ago, a prison doctor fed 30 children triple doses of cowplant milk for 50 days straight. No one knows what became of these child victims, or if they survived.

At least that was the widespread rumor that roused public outrage. Activists gathered outside Sim Agency demanding answers. Protests were held in every crevice of San Myshuno. Politicians found themselves at the forefront of media scrutiny and criticism.

Conspiracy theorists quietly pat themselves on the back. All those nights of tracking, bug planting and staking out around The Facility had paid off, especially when that truck rolled in and two of the children’s faces peeked out from behind the curtain covers. That was all the incriminating evidence they needed.

No one actually knows what happens in the isolated, highly-secretive building (fort?). And towards the end when the national leaders finally addressed the public’s concern and disbanded its operations, none was still the wiser.

Any claims of human experimentation were adamantly denied. External investigations and interrogations on both staff and the leftover children at the base prove naught either. Theorists were furious, accusing leaders of covering their tracks, disposing evidence and modifying memories. But with the passing of time and the controversial program no longer existing, people began forgive and forget. Normalcy resumed and the Facility and its news were no more.

Except time has a tendency to heal everything, especially in young sims with strong, flexible minds. For some, their memories are starting to awaken, while others had their memories the entire time…

Sorry I just can't help it! I tried to leave it as vague as possible for various forms of interpretation. And we don't need to use this of course, I just wanted a base to wrap my head around. Feel free to tweak any part of it if you want. Like the cowplant milk. I don't know what else would be a more controversial food item. Sixaman fruit?

@Rainydayz179 I just saw your comment about downloading staff from the gallery. All good then!

That sounds fun! You could control your kid like I did with that little girl in my Bay Tides rotation... I was doing the Single Sim challenge with her like an ISBI starting at toddler age instead of YA. As to being slow... well, you know I've barely written anything in months and I don't have work as an excuse. That would be awesome if you were forced to retire though!

Okay so, I think we should leave it more vague time-wise since we might not all be writing in current time. Like @CathyTea wants to write hers as her child grows up so hers will be in the past. Someone else might want to start theirs with the kid going into foster care. The cowplant milk is actually an angle I was going for as well... nothing specific really just that my guy thinks he can't survive without it.

    How's this?...

Alrighty! So, we've talked out some of the stuff quite a bit since I'd made the top post a few days ago so I thought I'd re-write it. I put in some "rules" which aren't really rules but it's easier to have them there if someone is confused.

@mercuryfoam I used your introductory blurb. Thanks for that.

@Xantheanmar were you still interested in building The Facility? If so, keep in mind they'll be there from toddler to at least a few days into teen so there will need to be skill objects for those ages.

    @CathyTea @PitlordMaggie (tagging so everyone's tagged :D )

Okay, so, as I see it what we need is The Facility, some staff, and copies of each other's kids at various ages. How many staff should we make? They don't have to actually be there all the time. We could swap them out in manage worlds when we want them around for screenshots. I think to make it easier we should try to use base game CAS items for our kids.

I'll probably just power through getting mine to young adult and make backup saves at various stages that I can go back into to take story screenshots. I'm not really in a huge hurry to start though so no rush on anyone.

@Rainydayz179 I'm currently building a facility that will support six children, which leaves room for two adults at any given time. I'm planning to put the finishing touches on it post-June 2nd, so... ladders! I've already got a cool bedroom planned that uses ladders. There could be more than six children total, of course – not all of them might have been there at the same time.
Oh – we should say what our pack restrictions are for building so I don't make something someone can't use. I know what I've got, of course – but I shouldn't assume that everyone has the same as me.

Obviously there's a garden with a cowplant – maybe there's a gardener who was hired to take care of the normal plants who wasn't allowed near the cowplant? And, of course, cowplants require victims... even if the person doesn't die, somebody had to be used. Maybe there was a rotation of death-row criminals used for the milk, and one day one of them did die? That would be a nasty secret...

What if part of the impetus is a reporter trying to get the scoop on these kids, years later? They were digging into the program and have tracked down the kids?

I'll post my kid later today. She's grown up to be pretty well-adjusted and wants to bury her past... even if that means distancing herself from the people who were once her friends...

@Xantheanmar Awesome! I don't have any packs after StrangerVille. I'll be getting the Tiny Living one soon. I'm kinda making sure the game keeps my interest before I go and spend more money, ya know? I love the cowplant idea.

The reporter idea is interesting. Were you thinking it would be like a one-time thing?

@Xantheanmar I have all the packs so its all green for me. I won't get the ecoliving pack straight away, though I plan to in the future so I'm a-okay that you want to include eco-living stuff.

@Rainydayz179 Is it possible to put a little note somewhere in the rewrite to welcome more simmers who are interested? Since my post is up there I can edit it and put current simmers in participation too. Or we can wait until it actually starts. Other than that its really clear! Thanks for the links too. They're very helpful since I didn't know where to start. This would be my first challenge

Okay I'm off to make a wonderchild eligible for this.

Can you look over what I added to the top and let me know if it's okay? Sorry, I'm not feeling all that great today so I couldn't think of what exactly to say. I'll probably wait to add in participants once we have links to chapter indexes or wherever they decide to share their stories. Good luck with your start. I haven't started yet.

One thing we haven't discussed is what hashtag we want to use for anything we share in the gallery? I'd hoped to have come up with a better title for this than "supersim type thing" by now but my creative process isn't helping me out here. :s

Hi, all! I uploaded my toddler! She's in my gallery (Gallery ID Name: CathyTea) and she's a solitary toddler named Caitlyn Alpha-Zero.

She's actually a born-in-game Sim (Gen 6, daughter of a Gen 5 spare from another Simmer's legacy and the cheerful version of my SimSelf).

For this story, we'll pretend she's a different person. My idea is that she was orphaned, and then joined the project. I just randomed all her clothes, so she'd have her own style! XD

I also figured out how I want to tell the story. I'm going to have her tell it as an adult, whose therapist has advised her to journal about her childhood. You see, she's made up this fantasy childhood that she always tells people when they ask about her past, but her therapist figured out that these were falsehoods. She claims not to remember her actual childhood. Slowly, as she journals, bits and pieces will come back to her.

This way, since she's an unreliable narrator, we can have an out when our stories have inconsistencies! It really won't matter. It'll be Roshomon-like in a way, and also, for this character, her memory is in bits and pieces, and she's not that sure what really happened. Her actual past gets mixed up with her made-up past.
