Computer glasses help needed

I was finally able to have my computer science major make the computer glasses, but now I can't get them off of him. I looked on the Answers site for tips and it said that it was fixed in a patch and that they'll be removed when the sim goes to another lot, so I had my sim take his dog to the vet. Well, he's still wearing the computer glasses, as they never came off.
I also read that the robotic arm being equipped will help remove the computer glasses. Is this true? How could having the robotic arm affect the computer glasses?
Please help.

Click on the Sim and you should find a self-interaction to Take Off Computer Glasses. It's a separate command, not part of the Computer Glasses... submenu.
