Do you have University? If so, you can set the computer security for only your Sim.
It is not necessary to change into bat form to move two feet over to grab a plate. And then do it again to adjust yourself six inches to the right for a better angle. In fact, not only is it not necessary, it seems to make you forget your task altogether.
(Really, I wish there was a "always move as bat to leave the lot but just walk when it's in the same room" option)

I've had dormmates sitting as the desk where the laptop is, but I haven't noticed them able to use the computer. I am now very much in the habit of locking the device as soon as I place it on the desk, though. Prior to this, others were able to use it despite it being "locked". Now we know where some of those plagiarized Term papers originated, no?

I usually just give up and let them dance away but when they are pregnant it makes me worry about the baby's safety :o (I know babies can't die in the game but still :p )
