Flunking out

Has anyone had their Sim flunk out of one or both universities? What happened? Moodlets, Whims, Can they go back after flunking both?

I'm going to give this a try just to see what happens.

I haven't had anyone flunk out of University yet, but I did have one flunk a class. It was an elective that should have been very easy for him to pass, too, since he already had high skill in that category.

Unfortunately, he was taking three classes and on the soccer team, so he never seemed to have enough time for all his homework and the two term papers he had that term.

When he emailed the professor about he progress, the professor said he was doing okay, well enough to pass, at least. But then he was late to the final, and I got a message that the term paper I had barely finished the night before and *thought* he turned in... hadn't been, I guess. Maybe something glitched, I don't know. It was very frustrating.

This term, he's only doing 2 core classes and the soccer team, and his work is much easier to get done. The soccer team every single evening doesn't leave much time to socialize and do a lot of fun stuff, though...

    @bshag4lv : LOL.
@Mariefoxprice83 : Make a post to put in updates once he's accepted!
@QuillWriter : So, only flunked one class... what was his reaction?

I had a Sim flunk a class. Idk why as I thought I was being rather diligent; guess I missed something! He didn’t seem to care, though.

Does anyone know how to purposely withdraw from university?

I got him accepted and gave him a full course load so he's in his first term now. I'll let you know what happens. I'm going to try making him sleep through class a lot and not do homework. I also made a club for his roommates. Their activities are socialising and pub-themed and all study options are part of the banned activities.

Yes. I don't know why, but they probably didn't gain the needed skills.

Yes, they can go back after some time. When they are suspended or drop out, they can not go to university for five simdays. I have not seen any limits to which university they can go back to afterwards.

The option is found on the cell phone under "Job" as far as I recall.

@BoergeAarg61 : That's good to know. What kind of moodlets did they get and whims, once they flunked out.

Yeah, my sim went on probation and then was suspended. Now she's stuck in that state and cannot re-enroll. I think it happened because I rotate and was not playing her at the time. The panel says she is suspended for 0 more days but the option to enroll again remains grayed out.

Just a warning to anyone who plays rotationally: your sim may be stuck on permanent suspension if you're playing a different family when they get suspended. My only option is to drop out, which wipes out all of her Uni progress.

@IceyJ : That seems like a bug! Was she on probation while you were playing her?

    I recall none.

The first one was asked to leave campus once she was suspended. When leaving university after leaving campus, I got a message stating she would not be able to return to university within the next five simdays. That's all, except I got a message later when she was able to apply for university again.

She did not get the benefit of an education when searching for a job, but she kept the skill points gained at the university.

It's going fairly well. My sim has sometimes started homework or gone to class by himself but I deleted his homework book and haven't played his presentation boards for him to work on. I have also stopped him from attending class several times, and I had him fail to turn up to one exam and walk out of another. I'm pretty sure he is failing every class in his first term.

This is what happened after a 2nd failed term:

Poor Dave has to move out of the dorm. I'll have him drop out and find a job now my experiment is done. I might do this again for story purposes another time but definitely not with 4 classes at a time!

I played her a bit the first week, left and returned to see she had a B+ overall. Played her a bit more, left and returned to find her on probation. Played her a bit more, left and came back to the suspension. She's been suspended ever since.

@Mariefoxprice83 : That was a great experiment! Thanks for sharing. Did he get any moodlets for failing?

I don't think so but I forgot to check. The perils of trying to play the game and write at the same time! Another time I definitely will check.

@Mariefoxprice83 If you do try it again, please play until the suspension is over to see if it's bugged the way I think it is. It appears that we can't re-enroll after it's over.
