Is the male sim with the camera wearing makeup? Was it really that necessary to make the most prominent male sim on the cover look so feminine? Is that the message they are trying to send? Only feminine males are supposed to play this game?
He also has darker skin in the game. Why did they make it so light on the cover?
This whole redesign from top to bottom is incredibly bad. The colors, the designs, the Sims, the main menu...
What’s even more jarring than the hideous look is the fact EA has been silent through it all.

Oh, and that's because you haven't yet read their stories and backgrounds in the gallery. Ahahaha If you did, you would know the answer to those questions.
I haven’t even updated my game haha. Would you mind giving me a little insight please ??

Typical EA behavior. Hide it out until it blows over and if it doesn’t blow over then act like it was an unfortunate situation outside of anyone’s control. They made their reputation for themselves and their studios.

(some of them were either removed from the Gallery or I can't find them for some reason lol I believe Maxis has removed them and uploaded them again and made some changes to the descriptions, I wonder why lol)
The blond guy with the glasses's description was about him being a social media activist for the LGBTQI ahaha
The other guy with the big brown hair was a body builder of sorts.
Thank you @Sigzy05. Interesting little bit of reading this morning. The male sim from the cover looks way better in the game, where he doesn’t seem to be sporting makeup. The descriptions are meh. Cliche stereotypes that won’t transfer into live mode.

Yes. He's not sporting makeup I guess they just look different in the cover. These characters all have stereotypical millennial descriptions as backstories and personalities, a lot of them could honestly be the same sim/person. There's no actual diversity of characters here, especially compared to the previous characters we had.
I actually don't mind this cover. I hated it at first and I still can't quite say it's "grown on me", but I don't mind it.
Literally every other aspect of this redesign, though, can kindly buzz off, it's all so ugly and unnecessary. I despise the new main screen and I miss expansions being individually colored (and the new pack logos and designs are just awful IMO).

Many of those descriptions are exactly why I still have a negative view of all this. They seem to be pushing a narrative, one which does not belong in a video game. But then, that just the impression I am given as a Gen Xer.
Dang, reading those Sims bios, they're even more bland and boring than I thought. Why are 2 of the 3 males obsessed with social media accounts and followers? Heck, why do they all seem to be those token artsy, overly friendly, social media obsessed stereotypes of millennials. One of the dudes is said to make safe spaces for pete's sake. Is this really what gen z is into, because maaaannnnnnn these sims are lame, and if this is the direction the game is going, I am NOT having high hopes for the future.
Also, am I the only one who thinks it's ironic that two of these sims are said to be dating when you can't even assign a bf/gf in CAS?

At least in my experience no, this is not what Gen Z is into. It’s just (for the most part) an inaccurate, trivial stereotype that corporations have latched onto in an attempt to connect with “the youth” so they can sell us things. The only problem for them is that most of us can see this type of pandering from a mile away and don’t buy into it.
It’s also interesting to note that some of the things mentioned in the sims’ bios you can’t actually do in-game. I guess they’re really relying on us to use our imaginations this go round, huh?
I don't mind what the cover looks like. I just play the game and kill off all the young-uns if I want and get my revenge.
You never know. They might be working on an all elders cover. I wonder what the Realm of Magic cover will be like...all old witches, and wizards perhaps? More my age range but I couldn't care less.
The cover art is a change, but I'll get used to it. Looks a little too deliberately hip to me, but art like that is easy to change later if it doesn't work out.
The new sims who load when you start up CAS are nice for a change of pace, since the 2014 starters have gotten pretty stale by now. I do wish that the 2014 starters were still in rotation, since they're pretty solid visual archetypes. That's a pretty minor issue either way around, though.
And yeah, the official descriptions do get more than a little silly. LGBTQIA dude and the latina chick have a bit too much pandering in their bios, but the one that really gets to me is the chef chick. When they invest so much in their own locations, why suddenly invoke real-world locales like France and Morocco? The only upside is that you have to go out of your way to find these bios, so they don't intrude on gameplay in the least.

I like how Morgan's says she's training for an Iron Man challenge, which mentions biking, when bikes aren't even in the game.
