What exactly is 'Super Water' when enabled in the graphics settings?

Yes, noob question. Apologies :p

This is something I've been wondering about for a while. I have the super water disabled because honestly, I don't notice a difference in the water's appearance when I *do* have it enabled. My laptop can handle it, no problem, I just don't see the point.

So do any of you on here - who are much smarter than I - know what exactly super water does? Or what it looks like or contributes to the graphics?

This is simply a silly question I've been curious about for quite some time. lol

    I was curious as well
    "Super Water" is basically the advanced water options that came with the Late Night patch back in October 2010. When enabled, the water will have special effects like reflections. It can be a bit taxing on your graphics card, so you may not want to enable if you have a weak card.

    I did a side by side comparison with the different settings (quitting and starting up again after adjusting settings). At first, I couldn't see anything but now I do think Super Water is ever so slightly more reflective. Still, they are both very similar if you ask me.

    The top image shows a little bit of color in the reflection. I also think it appears slightly more detailed. *shrugs* I did my best to get the same angle in each shot.

    I turned mine on and the water has a really glossy look to it.

    @SimplyJen and @GraceyManor
    Thank you both for the insight on this graphics option! Makes more sense now. And the pics definitely help, I really appreciate it :)

    @Amphora - Sorry to have to tell you this, but the others here are pulling your leg. Super Water is actually wetter than regular water, it tastes better, and makes fantastic coffee (or tea). It has nothing to do with game graphics. They are only misleading you because they want to preserve the natural supply of Super Water and ensure there is enough for themselves to enjoy. >:)

    It's true... I want all of the Super Water for myself. :D

    The only setting I don't have maxed out is High Detail Lots. I've had Reflection Quality set to Mirrors & Super Water since the day my first gaming PC was put together. Yes, I am spoiled now. :sweat_smile:
    Very glossy in the sun but I think Mirrors & Super Water + Mirrors & Water both give off this effect in the sun.

    @SimplyJen beautiful photos! I usually keep reflection to mirror only 😂
