Auto Power Off for Stereos

In one sitting of playing the Sims, I have had to repair or replace my music player five times... Ok, so maybe I'm playing too long, but it's not all my fault! My sims turn on music autonomously, and sometimes I don't even know. And the next thing I notice is that their player is sparking and smoking and broken.
If there were a way to set stereos to auto power off (like how we can set lights), this would really save me simoleons in repair costs. Does the same thing happen to you?
