Help needed - how can I set the sim's mood?

When EA removed those mood buffs cheats, they also took away what made it possible to create machinima. I can't record scenes where sims involved have random mood. I really don't understand why those cheats were removed, or why they could not be added to the pie menu where we can cheat the needs, that would have taken away the chance of a simmer typing a wrong code etc. Does EA prefer that we add 3rd party scrips/mods, how is that less risky than those removed cheats?
Instead of creating a pretty good movie, I will now make a not so good movie, because the "actors"' mood is so important to may scenes.
Is there a work around? How can I make a sim angry, and know it will last for how long as recording the scene takes? How can I easily make a sim sad, happy or bored? I'd love to use the game as is, without scripted poses and mods.
Anyone out there?
