I wish we could have bigger lots and an idea of having multiple homes on one lot where extended family members can live without controlling them. I have always wanted to create an estate in my game with like 5 homes, so why not bigger lots like like 400x400 or more.

If you want extended families living in other houses without you controlling them, move them to their own lot. If you're not actively playing them, why do they need to live on the same lot?
Perhaps what you should be asking for is open neighbourhoods.
