Thank God I’m not the only one having this issue. The line on my screen happens when I move the camera fast or spin my Sims around in cas. I got a new laptop after Christmas and I saw the line, I just ignored it thinking there was an issue with the installation. But then I took that laptop back (it was falling apart- manufacturing issues) and I got a new one. I still have this issue, I have NVIDIA geforce gtx. I wouldn’t worry about it, I’ve adapted to ignore it by now. Your laptop should be fine to download any new packs, I’ve downloaded 4 packs while having this problem. Hope this helps!
edit: I just realised that you are using the Sims 3, whereas I’m using the Sims 4
@Amylsims - You may want to post about this on the TS4 Tech section of the forum if you haven't already, as you may have noted this is the wrong section. But TS4 is newer and, unlike TS3, it has its own functional fps limiter built in. You may be able to live with the screen tear appearing periodically, but it could be a symptom of a more serious problem if your fps rates are not staying capped as well.
@SimplyJen I tried Windowed Borderless a few days ago. It worked perfectly, but the resolution was still a problem. Reading the text at 1080p is a serious strain on my eyes and if I put it to a lower resolution the window itself is smaller too, which I'd also like to avoid.

It's a very faint line, which I don't really see much. It's really the only 'problem' I have with the game
@Amylsims I really should be the last person to give advice in this thread but you should really check the FPS in game, just to make sure it stays capped. (I could leave it uncapped too and the line would disappear but there's a reason why my laptop fans sound like they are preparing for takeoff if I do)

That's a bummer and I really wish there was a way to alter the UI scale with Sims 3 but I haven't found a way.
@SimplyJen I thought I heard about a larger UI mod somewhere once, but I guess that must have been for TS4. Anyway, I'm planning to get an external monitor and keyboard to make work easier once I save up enough money for that so worst case scenario is I won't be able to play until then.

Sims 4 UI can be altered within the options file but Sims 3 doesn't have that in the options file nor has there been a mod. I wonder if it would be possible to mod.
