how do you copy and paste a cheat into the cheat bar instead of having to type it please?

You don't. (Edit: Okay, maybe @SimplyJen does have a way to suggest as below). But if you use NRaas Overwatch, you can add the console commands you like to it one time each and then run them from an Overwatch menu instead of typing them out using the cheats console. A common one, testingcheatsenabled true/false, is already accounted for.

This won't work for commands that have something like a sim's name at the end, but rather for ones that stand alone or always end in on/off or true/false.

If you mean copy from a website and then pull up the game to type it in... I know what you mean.

Windows:
CTRL + A = select all
CTRL + C = copy
CTRL + V = paste

Otherwise, (for mod users) NRaas Overwatch is pretty helpful too as igazor mentioned.

edit to add: Bonus tip some people might not know about either... While you have the cheat bar open, I believe the ^ arrow key will display the last used cheat code. Can't double check at the moment but I'm pretty sure.

Seriously I need to take the time to explore my mods. When filming I have to type in SIX cheats to get everything I need. This hint has saved me so much time and annoyance! Thank you, igazor

You're welcome, and maybe I need to spend some time outside of our mods for a while. I just checked on @SimplyJen 's suggestions and sure enough both paste and the up-arrow worked exactly as she described.

Hey! I'm not sure that is possible. Of course I have tried that when a cheat was long. I quickly learned that if you can only paste it if you have typed it in the game, and if you close the cheat bar and need to re-open it to paste the cheat again, then it won't paste. For some reason it automatically registers something in the game and when you ctrl>v it doesn't paste. Hope I helped! Happy Simming! -@powers6180

@powers6180 - This is a reminder I'm afraid that once again you are responding to a question on the TS3 section of the forum and as you said you do not play this version of the game. It is very likely that the TS4 cheats console does not behave the same way as TS3's does.
