How to tell how your sim is feeling re the weather?

My sim never appears to be too hot or too cold. So far I've played in Autumn, but I've had my sim dressed in winter clothes on a hot day, but my sim never said 'feels too hot' or had any kind of moodlet that indicated that she was too hot and visa versa. I've noticed a thermostat and I've put it in her house but it doesnt seem to do anything at all?
I'm not sure if its just my expectations because I've played the sims 3, that I expect there to be some kind of moodlet saying 'too hot' or 'too cold' or 'just comfortable' when the thermostat is on. But so far, other than the nice weather affects, the season temperature system has not been impactful to game play. I kinda thought if I wore a bikini in 'cold' weather, I'd get a moodlet that would say 'cold -1' 'freezing -4' which would encourage me to dress my sim appropriately?
Am I doing this wrong or??
