"Choose later?"

Hello
I was wondering if anyone has found out a way for to sims to join a career story? I have one sim that's in the resturant career but then when i got the option to add another one to the household. I wanted them to finish the barista story. However it keep saying "Choose later" and now that i've unlocked level 8 and the game tutorial prompt me to buy a stove. Its wanting me to choose cooking as a hobby but for some reason on both of my sims it keeps only saying "Choose later"

Has anyone figured this out?

You have to just click the picture of the career, not the choose later button. I felt so dumb myself.

OMG! Thank you for asking this. I couldn't figure it out to save my life and I'm almost on level 13. I was so stuck on starting a hobby how silly!

I did the same thing. Not intuitively obvious.
