4 Sims hours is not a 'short' dog walk

Was playing the Villareal household and gave them a dog - a short dog walk from that household takes 4 sim hours! I cannot even imagine how much time a long walk would take! Please make the dog walks a reasonable amount of time.

I agree but find the longer walks work when you just want to focus on one sim and just have the other out of the way for a while.

I think it also depends on the neighborhood they live in: They follow the same pathing for jogging so if it's a huge neighborhood space like any one of them in Windenburg it will take HOURS to do, while say the neighborhood where the Landgraab's house is might actually be short. Regardless I just take them for a jog bc it's naturally quicker.

It just makes no sense to me that the 'take dog for a walk' whim only gives 10 pts, considering what a time sink it is.

It will not be so easy to fix because it isn't programmed in a way that it's estimated by hours, but by walking routes.
Anyhow, this mod will reduce the times a bit:

What I noticed is that the dog walkbys are broken since the december patch. I really hope the team will fix that soon. I loved those walkbys.

You don't have to complete the walk to get the aspiration points. Simply starting to take the dog for a walk gives you the 10 points. After a short bit you can also cut the walk short and return home.

Thank you for this mod. The timing on this dog walking is ridiculous. I should be able to get in a morning walk with the dog before work, but noooooo, they could walk to a new world for all the time this takes. Outrageous. I'll go looking for that mod Monday when I resume sim game play. :)

ETA: oh this is the download. Thank you ;)

It's not just a case of a 4 hour dog walk - you have to factor in the 2 or 3 hours it takes to get a Sim fed, toileted and showered prior to even thinking about taking the dog for a walk.

This is one of the reasons I gave up on having dogs in game. Sims take long enough to have a meal, shower, skill build, socialise never mind marathon dog walks.

If we had rotary washing lines - which I had previousy suggested - you could simply attach your dog (even a toddler) to it and let them walk in circles following a treat that is always moving ahead of them - donkey following a carrot style.

I have all the best ideas.

I much prefer the cats in sims 4 too - they are much more entertaining and way less needy. The dogs in sims 4 are way too much work with these really long 'short' walks, picking up poop (yuck!), bathing, etc. - and they are boring too - all they do is whine to go on a walk or obsess over a toilet all the time so it is hard for a sim to ever get in the bathroom without dogs all in it. I like to watch the cats on the robot vacuums and one cat would run all over those high boat dock girder things like an acrobat! The cats are easy to take care of and just seem to have way more character to them.

I thought I was the only one with this issue. Until I searched the forums. I found it odd that It was taking so long to do a short walk. I didn't know this was an issues since the beginning of the year. I guess I will just have to keep cancelling the walk after a while instead of letting it end on it own.

Never go for a walk in winderburg. The short walk takes you once on the four corners on the map. Winderburg zones are just too big.

Went on a medium walk. Left at 4pm and had to cancel the walk to get home by 2am! How does that make any kind of sense?
