This should be shocking.
I just uninstalled The Sims 4.
I was playing Uni, in my wonderful dorm, with my wonderful sims, and I was feeling so fed up with the game.
I put it out of its, and mine, misery.
Wow, that's drastic (not that you can't install it again whenever) - you seemed to be having fun with JtB? Uni can be a bit of a grind though so I understand the fed-up-ness totally. Hope you manage to find a game that you can enjoy, or maybe go back to TS3?
Yeah, it was a bit weird.
University has always been my favorite pack with TS2 and TS3.
I was playing it and just wasn't enjoying it at all. I had to ask, why am I playing this?
It really should be the best Sims ever for me, but my feelings aren't matching the pictures.
It's the game play. It's sim traits not mattering much. Those ridiculous NAPS still affecting my game even when getting replacing them with better ones. Sims taking ridiculous routes to do things. Sims who are sitting down, getting up to go to another chair to do something that they could have done in their current chair. Just lots of little annoying things. It's a shame since I really like CAS, Build-mode, and all the stuff I created. I just don't like playing the game.
I still have my save.
If EA ever adds more depth to traits and address NAPs, I might install it again after everything is done and no more patches.
I will probably start all my sims from the very beginning again as Toddlers.
I was actually deep into TS3 before JTB showed up.
I might start it again, but I think I will give Crusader Kings 3 a try.
And then when Cyberpunk 2077 shows up, I probably will be away from all things Sims for a while.
There is also rumors of a Mass Effect trilogy remaster. I haven't played Mass Effect in a long time.
Sorry to hear this. I know kind of how you feel. For the first time in 8 years, I'm cutting mods and 90% cc out of my game. It seems my mods folder had grown to almost 3 gb which is a lot for me. After this last patch, it seems like everything conflicted with even the updated mods, so I closed my eyes and hit the delete button. After playing for awhile using mostly EA stuff, I can still have fun.
So sorry but evidently you knew what you wanted when you totally uninstalled.
Btw, forget that last sentence, happy simming.
In my house, dog hair sticks to everything but the dog.

I would be modding all the stuff I don't like out too, but the game is patched so often and mods have to be updated.
I'd rather wait until the game is done with no patches before I mod anything. So I may be back later.
As long as the game is on my machine, I would probably cave and buy the latest pack.
That's not gonna happen if I have to download everything again just for a new pack.
I was considering uninstalling after Eco Living, but I was intrigued by the Star Wars pack.
I still have more updates for this thread though, I might as well continue up to the point where I stopped.
I've loved the way you tell stories since TS3, and have enjoyed this thread. I haven't uninstalled yet, but I've reinstalled TS2 and TS3 and haven't played 4 in weeks (and the last few times I have tried to play, I exit the game after a few minutes). While I hope to hear more of your sim stories in the future, I hope you find can find another game to enjoy in the meantime.
This should be shocking.

I was pretty much in the same boat as you up until a few weeks ago. Played TS4 for a day or two, noticed how the emotion system just isn't my thing, and I'm back with TS3 for the time being...
And I definitely feel you on that last part, on Nov. 19, Cyberpunk will be taking up all my time, and I very much plan on letting that happen.
-Love Japanese Culture
-Have wished for downhill skiing
-Love the idea of my climbing machine sims actually able to mountain climb.
-Another vacation break alternative for my Uni sims.
I will build a new computer soon, and if the personality overhaul is a wonderful feature,
I will most likely reinstall TS4. [Without Eco Lifestyle]
Lol, I'm in the same boat. Swore up and down that whatever they put out, I would wait to buy it to see what bugs would pop up. Scratch that! This pack is one I've been waiting for. I voted for mountain vacations and oriental, Japanese to be exact. Wow, I would say they have been gearing up for this for awhile, and I have no willpower, lol.
I'll be looking forward to great stories and pictures from you.
In my house, dog hair sticks to everything but the dog.

I think I am going into withdrawal.
I am also starting to feel like I am abandoning my sims and not finishing their stories.
Lifestyles and Sentiments had better be awesome so I can get back to it. I could tolerate other issues with the game if I felt their personalities and socializing mattered.
This YouTuber experimented with TS3 and TS4. https://youtu.be/YhFC6Y0OtSM
The big deal is a TS3 sim was upset over a romantic betrayal for 5 days instead of TS4's 24 hours.
And children get really upset when their parents cheats compared to children in TS4.
So I am hoping the new features makes what happens in their lives matter more.
Watching PleasantSim's videos got me to reinstall Sims 2/3 on my computer. I had forgotten how much better the personality systems were. I've tried adding the Sims 4 mods she recommends, and while it did help a little; it's still just a shell compared to the the previous iterations. I'm waiting to see the reviews on the new EP. I want to hope for the overhaul we've all been waiting for, but I'm not holding my breath. I've really enjoyed going back to Sims 2/3, except for the building aspects.
It looks good for a TS4 reinstall. I am building a new computer, so I probably won't have things together until a week before SE.
Sentiments and Lifestyles look like they should add enough to make the game interesting to play.
And then there is Snowy Escape content itself, which should bring another enjoyable vacation destination.
I will not reinstall Eco Lifestyle, so no more nap issues or problematic sims with the recycler trait.
So I should probably catch up with all news of my sims.
I did play them quite a bit before I uninstalled the game. I just hope everything is okay with the save after I bring the game back without Eco Lifestyle.
So they are back and Hondo is out front. What a perfect set up for a new mission.
"Take the Falcon. Go to Coruscant and drop off a package for me."
"What?"
"Have fun. Don't die."
I wish they all could board the ship, but the other two could be doing other things while Melonie is away:
Olivia and Yuki took care of their needs and worked on skills while I made choices from Melonie's pop-ups.
She achieved the mission, but I don't think it was the best out come.
Next time I send someone out, I will make sure their inventory has everything in it.
Happy for the credits anyway.
And now it's time to take care of a major goal.
We have a droid.
And of course this is what I picked.
Olivia goes to Vi for a mission.
Another slice job.
Whoa! That never happened before.
She was shocked again even after taking a focusing potion.
That's enough. Send in the droid.
Cancel the droid.
Okay, things are getting more difficult.
I had tried another mission with Melonie, but ran into the same issue with slicing.
I am not doing anymore until they really level up their programming skill. They will scavenge junk piles and open crates to increase their inventory of useful objects.
One of those objects happened to be a light saber.
"So. I see you have constructed a new light saber."
"Wow, Yuki."
They don't have much time left in Batuu, so I will spend it collecting items and working on those programming skills.
I'm not sending Team Dark until they have stronger skills. But we have two light sabers, a droid, and have flown on the Millennium Falcon. That's nice progress.
Back from Batuu.
Sad face time. It may be a while before they return to Batuu. I believe their lack of Handiness skills may be holding them back.
They did bring back some souvenirs this time.
I will add all the Star Wars toys to my University store.
I don't want them spending credits on toys. They can save credits for things they need for missions.
It's going to be a struggle to find room.
They returned home just in time for Geekcon.
I wish Geekcons where held on Saturdays. They have to ditch school to go there:
Since Melonie is flying the Falcon, some Rocket Science skills may help her out.
Choices of Star Wars costumes for Cosplay is limited since I have not unlocked much.
Judith Ward?
Great. She can get her first autograph from a celebrity.
No?
Well, pardon me.
She doesn't mind pictures.
Olivia is going to be a stylist and own her own fashion boutique.
I think I will make it a goal to give Judith Ward a makeover.
That's it for Geekon.
The Journey to Batuu really helped. Olivia won a computer because of her programming skills.
One of the others won $500.
I am going to start work on a Star Wars themed cybercafe where my teens will hangout and show off their cosplay outfits.
Thanks for the belly laugh. I am having that same trouble with droids it seems. I have found out, after upgrading all the dumb box of scrap metal had to offer and am in the process of making best friends with the little beast too. If this droid is as inept as the other 3 I've bought and sold, no more droid. Tip: They love it when owner plays with droid. Go figure. I am taking it slowly in the training, the droid so far has opened several crates successfully. Next will be to practice slicing with the droid. Crossing my fingers that this time the droid doesn't "overload."

I think I was just happy to get one.
I didn't get a chance to do much with it.
It was time to add a Star Wars theme to my Cybercafe.
It's all just for atmosphere.
The BB unit helps a lot. He's functional.
I was going to rip out the old Get Famous set, but it was already looking Star Warsy.
I simply added Journey to Batuu content to it:
This is the area where my cosplayers create their outfits.
It's really cool that the First Order console is functional.
It's nice but...
This is why I created this.
By the way, Melonie and Olivia are my favorite sims of all time.
Melonie, since TS3,
Olivia, since TS4 base game.
Olivia finally wins one.
I was hoping the could dual up here, but it's not big enough.
They should be able to practice with a drone and also use the acting marks.
Townies might become annoying.
I set up a creative Nap since Del Sol Valley is supposed to be Hollywood for The Sims 4.
Time to repeal that NAP.
Now if I can just get them to eat at the same table and the same time.
(This, by the way, was one of a dozen annoying experiences that led to me uninstalling TS4 )
This was weird.
A secret society member invaded the prep school.
They're not even in Uni yet.
Well my sims won't be joining them. The secret society is a cult in The Sims 4.
My school counselor and administrator are looking quite professional in their new career outfits.
Team Light are back in Batuu.
I am not sending Team Dark until I figure out why my sim can't get past mission 3.
Hey, that's an imperial probe droid hanging in that net.
Here we go again:
No dice.
I had her upgrade her droid and it couldn't even scramble the tower.
I then went back to the Resistance area, back to the First Order area, and she was able to scramble the tower.
The final leg of this journey--fix the x-wing.
Rocket science:
another skill I will have to add to their abilities.
Mission accomplished!
Okay, I am ready to start moving up the ranks.
I want to unlock more content.
The Batuu Journeys continue as my sims progress through prep school and eventually to University.
"Another drink for me? I don't mind if I do!"
Melonie has a mission to get information from this bar regular by plying her with drinks.
It looks like I've reached a major milestone. Rey has arrived.
Oh, don't be such a fan girl and hand over the supplies:
That's the supplies?
Sponges?
A clean secret base is a happy secret base, I guess.
Greetings.
Rey seems very different with that unique voice.
Of course we have to spar with her.
She's smiling now.
But not anymore.
Run, Olivia!
R2 D3: Be doop boop! Be doop boop!
[Translation]: Too close! Too Close!
Yeah, Rey did that in The Force Awakens too.
But you don't have the force.
So now is a good time to stop.
Yay, you didn't lose a hand.
"I Just fought Rey Palpatine Skywalker in a light saber duel."
Olivia is now halfway along the Resistance reputation meter.
Melonie is almost halfway along the Scoundrel meter. I will switch to my 3 sims and play them halfway up the First Order meter next.
Once I do that, I will take a break from Batuu and focus on their first two years in University.
After their first two years in University are up, I will give them a vacation from school and finish up their Journey to Batuu.
Love the update! Sounds like you've done some long term planning.
I am going through previous neighborhoods of sims that I had no plan for. With Snowy Escape coming, I have several that will fit the bill of snow bunnies.
In my house, dog hair sticks to everything but the dog.
Love the update! Sounds like you've done some long term planning.
I am going through previous neighborhoods of sims that I had no plan for. With Snowy Escape coming, I have several that will fit the bill of snow bunnies.
I should do that test out the new patch.
I don't think I will be ready. I spent the entire weekend building this new computer. I am really nervous because I am about to power it on to see if everything works.
Your heart plummets when you turn it on and... nothing.
First I have to finished gathering all the software utilities I need. Make a bios update thumb drive and a windows installation drive.
No, I don't think I will have it all together by Tuesday.
[Update]
It's running.
All the lights are on and all the fans are whirling.
I need to go into UEFI and see if all the components are registered and working.
After that, I get to install windows 10 and update my BIOS.
And then I can install TS4 again. The problem is I really won't have anytime during the week.
So I will probably do it all next weekend. If I don't have to work Saturday.
I am currently installing TS4 back on my old computer, so I can try out the sentiments from the patch.
I will probably just leave my computer on and let everything install while I am at work.
My next computer will probably not be ready for Snowy Escape.
I am curious what will happen to my old saves without Eco Lifestyle.
More pictures from before I uninstalled TS4.
I have Snowy Escape now and I am just starting to play it.
But before that, my sims had reached a major milestone.
My first sims in rotation have aged up to young adults.
This means it's time to apply for University.
A GeekCon event popped up before they left for Uni.
And they also had one more adventure at Batuu while they waited for their applications to Uni to be processed.
Olivia ungraded her astromech so it allowed her to go on free flights in the X-wing.
I liked that the ride was so enjoyable it refilled her needs.
I had one more thing to take care of before they departed for Ubrite.
Nancy Landgraab had to update her University student stores:
It now has a Star Wars toys section.
Those Landgraabs own everything.
So now they are in Wyvern Hall in Britechester.
And the game changed my wall textures to a darker color for some reason with the last patch.
Another thing to fix.
I love my dorm, but I am finding playing Discover University to be very boring.
Homework, presentations, term papers, and going to class... zzzzzz.....
None of this...
Or this...
Zzzz...
I did have fun making over the dormies.
They do have their term papers and presentations out of the way, so a little more time for other activities is available.
I turned to the Student Commons for more things for them to do on campus.
This has to be one of EA's most boring lots. They couldn't even be bothered to add ping pong tables to it.
Really, EA?
So it was time for another project.
This fits in better with the look of the campus and it has more useful lot traits.
I also added something that should have come with University, instead of sold separately in a stuff pack.
$10 here, $10 there.
The main floor has a social lounge and cafeteria.
The upper level has a study area and a games area.
This is worth visiting now.
Finally your girls are ya! Love what you did with the Britechester Commons building. I had to remake mine too, lol. Just eww!
Unfortunately Uni is a snooze fest, but if you do mods, there's a great one by Scarlet that sims can complete homework in about a quarter of the time. I had to get a couple of Uni mods, otherwise no sims would go to Uni.
ETA: If you have MCC, you can right click on their term papers and presentations and presto, their completed!
In my house, dog hair sticks to everything but the dog.

Thanks.
I'm still waiting for TS4 to be complete before I seriously modded.
I know I will use a lot of mods. I just hate them being broken so often because the game is updated so much.
These are the last pictures before The Great Rage Uninstall of 2020, a year of turmoil.
Perhaps it was the constant academic work that caused it.
Or horrible NPC fashion choices.
This is your job, Olivia.
I do like NPC makeovers, but not all the time.
Dramatic changes for these two.
It wasn't all horrible.
I loved the visits from family and friends.
And they did get some breaks from academics.
Had to hire a mixologist.
Nice area for some lightsaber sparring.
It could have been all the bugs, glitches, and weak game play choices the game had at the time.
This was the last picture in my folder as of The Great Uninstall.
However, I do believe it was Eco Lifestyle that was the final straw.
I wish I had taken pictures of all the future cubes that were in their inventories. They could fill a room.
What I do have is a picture from the future showing the results.
All that cash is from the sale of future cubes spawned in their inventories.
I put it in the Prep Schools vault when the trio returned to the prep school after their second semester.
The money bought the vault. The school administrator is so happy that he will be funding all student vacations from now on.
Vacations to places like Mt Komorebi.

Which we will be getting to soon.
