@dreamprisoner I see your point. I guess I'd just rather click a donate button or a subscription button regularly and be able to download without the possibility of having a pc full of adware and malware because many of the links to adfly that I've encountered have infected my machine with these things.
I don't fault our wonderful community of designers for the want/need to make money, I just prefer to hit that donate/subscribe button and know exactly what I'm feeding my pc.
Loving yourself is the most simple and complicated thing you can do for you.
Thank you so much for the links! I'm only halfway through Birkches so far, and I'm LOVING all the great black woman hair. I've been needing that in the worst way! My communities are very diverse, and the sad lack of suitable, good-looking African american woman hair has been driving me nuts!
As my title asks, does anyone out there know of some good maxis match sites that do not hide their content behind adfly? Its so frustrating to download bunches of cc and have to wade through all of the adfly stuff. Feels like 10 minutes of downloading takes hours with them. Not to mention that it always makes me feel like maybe my pc will get infected with tons of adware and viruses just because of them. Is that a reasonable fear or is it safer than I think and just a pain in the plumbob?
well man.. its free you know... modders have to eat too, i dont charge for my CC but i understand people who does..
about the ad-fly infecting your computer, this is impossible unless you download and execute a .exe or something, do dont worry about that, also some ad-fly open pop-ups and sometimes dont open your download link, if that happens, dont close the pop-up and click on the download link again, over and over, untill it start to download your CC (again,be sure its not .exe), then close all pop-ups.
One way to find content without adfly is to subscribe on Patreon. Also, around the Sims has no gadfly but there is a PayPal button. Mod the Sims once you are signed in has minimal ads. The Sims resource has no ads if you are a VIP subscriber.
I have been playing The Sims since 2001, when Livin Large came out. My avatar deliberately looks like Chris Roomies from TS1.
Kind of late, but Lumysims has some great pieces and uses simsdom which has no adfly. some creations are strictly patreon but there are many beautiful free ones.
I downloaded an ad.fly skipper on my computer. Sorry, not sorry. I mainly did this because ad.fly stuff doesn't work on my computer and I can't press the skip button because it never appears.
Anyone who says you can't get a virus from adfly, don't believe it. Before I knew about the skipper, I did not download anything from the adly pages and got a virus that messed up my whole computer. And I don't do anything on my computer except sim and write stories so I know 100% that's what it was. I still download cc that leads to adfly but I now use virus protection and the skipper with great success.
Another thing I see a big issue with is JS sims. A lot of links when looking for cc leads to js sims blog I think it's called. Instant virus 😖 and I don't understand how this modder is still allowed to have links and a website up, it's been a long time issue now.

Meanwhile, it's how the creators make money, and usually I don't mind going through an extra 5 seconds of annoying ads to give them some support.
