I purchased Sims 3 through Steam. It's really fun & I love it & everything, but...
When I try to install CAW I just get a box telling me that I "must have the base game installed first".
I do have it installed, just that it's in Steam's folder.
Is there any way to make CAW recognize my installation or am I just screwed out of using CAW?
EDIT: I found a solution. You can install CAW with a Steam Sims 3 game by doing a little registry tweak. I'm putting a link to the solution here ->
Use Create-a-World with Steam Sims 3 for anyone else who might be having this trouble with CAW.
I have Windows 10 & this method got CAW installed & running for me.
Make sure to follow the instructions carefully, backup your registry as instructed, etc etc.
I uploaded something! (yay)

Enjoy!

Hi @ShojoDagger ,
I don't have Sims under Steam, so I don't know if this solution works. In the first sticky post about FAQ this question is addressed. Here is the URL that it points to. http://ts3tutorials.forumotion.com/t130-steam-installation-and-caw-by-littleminxundr#244

I'll keep looking for a solution that works for me tho.
Enjoy!
> Interesting, but I don't want Origin, so this solution isn't what I'm looking for. Thanks anyway.

Hi, did you ever happen to find a solution? I am having the exact same problem and you're the only other person I've seen mention it.
Enjoy!
