Does it ever bother you how much people who prefer ts3 are always comparing it to ts4? Or saying its a bad game to people who havent played it yet? I never liked the sims 3 but i didnt beat others up over the head with it.
I happen to think ts4 is superior because the art style and graphics are much better, the create a sim feature is very detailed, personalities are amazing, so on and so on. But it gets kind of tiring to see ts3 fans constantly saying "oh well its not ts3, sims 3 is better."

At the end of the day, I'm playing the game because I want to, not because somebody else does. That's really important to me and wasn't always true in my life.

I agree with most of your points. Although it wasnt my favorite, I never criticized or talked down to anyone because they like sims 3. But i do see sims 3 fans belittling people who like sims 4, quite often. I also wouldnt describe sims 3 as a all around bad game, like sims 3 fans do with sins 4.
I truly do believe in to each their own, but when there is so much negativity over a game its nuts. Especially when no one is making anyone play either one of them.
Ts4 I still have faith in it , hopefully it will be as good or even better than ts2.
The Sims 3 released in a time where the internet was still somewhat social and computer gamers where of the older variety vs console gamers.
Sims 4 had to deal with the "my way or its wrong" younger generation of games.
The people who adore The Sims 4 have talked down to people who critique this game since release. Have a look a look at some of the feedback threads and you will see examples of this. Many pro-Sims 4 posters are incredibly patronising and paternalistic. When faced with that day in and day out, of course things get a little heated.
Most of the people complaining about this game were complaining about facts: missing features. No toddlers. Culling. A family tree that is not fit for purpose. Poor reactions so bad they had to be patched a year after release. Linear and bare EPs. Lack of customisation. Traits that seem ineffective. Lack of trait clashes. Constantly smiling sims. Teens the same height as adults.
Companies are in the business of offering as little as they can get away with - that is the nature of capitalism: to maximise profits. Posters complain to help improve the game because they are invested in the series as a whole and care. If a cut feature is accepted with no outcry, what would be cut next? Customers have to shout loudly when this happens to ensure it doesn't happen again as it is a slippery slope.
The gurus thanked posters for all of their feedback on toddlers, and if you read all of the information out there about their creation, you can see that the gurus listened to every piece of this feedback and worked incredibly hard to make toddlers perfect. They could not have done that without our feedback, the majority of which came from critical fans. I have no doubt, the pressure and intensity on these forums, resulted in better toddlers. The gurus knew fans had very high expectations. Their bosses, the executives who plan the budgets knew this too. How would they know what fans wanted and how important this feature is to them, if they are not told this?
Toddlers have just been re-added to the game and you see none of the more objective posters complaining about that because Maxis did a stellar job. These kind of posters do not gush over anything they are given, but give credit when they believe credit is due; when it meets the high standards they expect.
Straight after the toddler announcement, the gurus asked for fans of this game to keep providing feedback on what we would like to see in game. Some created threads that in on way were negative, and lo and behold the usual posters enter those threads to attack the poster for daring to point out the things in the game they think need to be improved.
There are loads of positive threads on this forum that are left alone by negative posters. You don't see the same posters entering these threads over and over and over to tell the posters in them that they are wrong for enjoying The Sims 4. Yet this happens with every negative thread; always posters will turn up (and you can usually predict who they will be) to attack and then when they are challenged will claim they are merely pushing back, stopping the spread of misinformation, are entitled to post where they want, or claim they are being bullied.
No ones' enjoyment of a game should be hindered by what others say on a forum, if it does, then I wonder how these people get through real life.
But if they make a reasonable comparison and are understanding, then I don't mind at all.
If you've got butter on your head, don't walk in the sun is what I say.
There are actions taken from many different angles and no perspective is "safe" from criticism. On the flip side, no perspective is "safe" from affirmation.
The community is complicated and expansive.
You're not the only one who has written words in the realm of implying that there are sides and one is worse than the other. You won't be the last.
I think we need to remind ourselves every once in a while that there are no sides. There are just feelings and sometimes those feelings match up, other times they don't. There are people on this forum I've disagree with in the past who could be the friendliest of pals tomorrow because something gets implemented that is a game-changer for them. That's how flimsy the "sides" really are.
We're all sims fans, one way or another. We have that in common. Sometimes we're going to disagree and there's nothing wrong with that, and sometimes people will go too far, and that's just human nature. All we can do is each try to do our best to treat each other with respect and give the benefit of the doubt where possible. And just to be real here, cause I feel like I'm writing a monologue for a movie, there's the occasional person in the community who I have difficulty respecting because of some way they act or some attitude they have. I would bet, statistically speaking, there are some people in the community who feel that way about me.
We can't always be like our creepily happy sims. But let's try to avoid this stuff about "sides" and implying better or worse, even though it's hard as heck to do sometimes.
I believe the OP's intent here was just to find out if there were people who shared in their experience. Shared experience is a powerful thing and sometimes you end up with circumstances that are hard to describe, even to a close friend. Often shared experience is not about finding a solution, but about feeling like somebody gets it and you can release your feelings somewhat. I would dare to say it's the backbone of what keeps that mega family play thread standing.
The one feature I miss is the terrain options, I'm unable to recreate my cliff hanging house from ts3
Updated with Werewolf Diaries (1)
I just figure the ones that bash them, really can't play them due to lag, etc. I was blessed with having little or no problems with each one. I got plenty of enjoyment from each Series
I wouldn't say Sims4 is my favorite.......yet! But it gets better as time goes by!
Second of all, you're literally doing the same exact thing you accuse others of doing...
"I happen to think ts4 is superior because the art style and graphics are much better, the create a sim feature is very detailed, personalities are amazing, so on and so on. But it gets kind of tiring to see ts3 fans constantly saying "oh well its not ts3, sims 3 is better."

People have opinions and are very entitled to have them (no matter how strong). If someone likes The Sims 3 more and believes it's superior, then that's their opinion. If you like The Sims 4 more and believe it's superior, then that's your opinion. I don't even understand the point of this post.
On a side note, many people's complaints about The Sims 4 are actually quite justifiable. For example, even though we now have toddlers (which I'm very happy about), it still took over 2 years to finally have them in the game. In Sims 2 and Sims 3, they were included from the beginning, but were suddenly removed from Sims 4 without any actual explanations. That's a pretty good reason to criticize the game. Not to mention the fact that Sims 4 removed quite a few features that people loved in Sims 3 (like Open World, CAW, and CAST).
I'm not going to argue with you about which game is better, but you need to get over the fact that people have their own opinions about each game in the franchise. The Sims 4 is never going to satisfy everyone (just like how Sims 3, Sims 2, and Sims 1 never satisfied everyone either). You're kinda being a hypocrite by doing the exact same thing you accuse others of doing.
There are actually good things and bad things about each game. None of the games are perfect. They never will be. Sims 1, Sims 2, Sims 3, and Sims 4 all have pros and cons.
Sims 1: Hot Date
Sims 2: Seasons
Sims 2: Happy Holiday Stuff
Sims 3: Seasons
Sims 3: 70's, 80's, & 90's Stuff
Sims 4: Seasons
Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff
Sims 4: Strangerville Game Pack
When Sims 4 came out I couldn't help it feeling a bit empty, not much content and not that much they could do. I knew this was a case of missing all the stuff packs and expansion packs etc. I then compared the previous game with how the sims handled actions (in the previous games a sim could only do 1 thing at a time) and found out I really liked the multitasking feature.
In honesty sims 3 ran quite badly for me (got an high end, still ran bad with skip lags etc) so I was so happy to not have that in my game that I was happy with whatever almost XD
I did however miss pets and toddlers.
Ideas on how to improve babies.
