Toddler's away options

My sim went to a diner with his brother and the toddler was left alone with her mother. Would be in good hands or so I thought. After my sim had finished his meal and enjoyed a drink at the bar the toddler was getting hungry and needed amusement. There was no way for me to make these needs filled and the toddler just kept snoring despite her needs decreasing. By the time by sim returned to the home lot the toddler had +3 hangry moodlet and +3 for needing amusement.
Usually if I want my sim staying home to fill another need I click "take care of self" and it switches to the need that's lowest. It would be nice to have the same option for toddlers, so sims going out didn't have to worry so much. Or have the option for sim at home to take care of the toddler.
