@Lulac - Hi there. Your game is as up to date as it gets, the Patch 1.69.43.blahblah would have been delivered by Origin, not the Launcher. It was released this past January and there haven't been any since.

If the game is working fine without your Mods folder in place, but is crashing with it in place (on startup?), then it is either your Mods folder with Resource.cfg or something inside of Mods/Packages that is causing this. Of course, we cannot see what you have, if anything, in Mods/Packages from your description. A badly formed package file, one meant for a different patch level, or even a TS2 or TS4 mod in there can cause crashes.

Here is where to get the current version of the Mods framework, look for the big blue Download button. It includes the two required subfolders (Packages and Overrides), plus the Resource.cfg file all in the right places. It also includes two sample mods, NoIntroMovie and No BuildSparkles, so you can test the setup before adding anything else to Packages.
    http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files

Move your current Mods folder out to your Desktop or someplace for safekeeping (if it actually has any content in it, otherwise just delete it). Download a fresh copy of the Framework to your Desktop, unzip it, and put the resulting Mods folder plus its contents into your TS3 game folder in Documents. When you are done, it should look just like the three illustrations on the page just linked to. Clear your game folder's five cache files and try starting up. You should get a notification (not a crash) that the two mods have been detected and the Intro startup movie should be suppressed.

Cache files safe to delete before starting up:
    CASPartCache.package
    compositorCache.package
    scriptCache.package
    simCompositorCache.package
    socialCache.package

    However...

I note that you have a 32-bit operating system. That means you cannot have more than 4 GB of usable memory (RAM) total on your system. How far you will be able to push this game, with or without mods, will depend on how many EPs you have in play. How much RAM do you actually have? Win 7 is going to want to use a big chunk of that just for itself and background tasks, which might not be leaving enough for the game to use. It's the same with TS4, really, though TS4 doesn't have 11 EPs to contend with (yet).

Hello again. I took out my current Mods folder and just deleted it because I have copies of my packages. I downloaded, extracted, and placed the new Mods folder into my Sims 3 folder, cleared all cache listed, started up game. The game works perfectly fine, so then I wait for it to finish loading and exit completely. I start the game up again after placing my packages back into the new Mods folder only for it to crash again. So I'm guessing it's a problem package that I gotta fish out? Also, yes, I have 4.00 GB, which is weird because when downloading TS4 a few months back, it said it needed more than that, but the game works fine (other than the crashing due to CC). Any other recommendations as to what the problem is? Thank you for replying so soon and helping!

Okay, the best way to proceed is going to depend on how much package based content you are working with. If you have 5 or 10 package files, try them one at a time (deleting the cache files listed above each time) until you discover which one is causing the crash.

If you have hundreds, obviously that doesn't make sense and a much more efficient method would be the 50/50 dance. Put half of your package based content in (again, clearing caches each time). If it's fine, put in half of what remains, if not remove half of the half. Proceed backwards and forwards by remaining halves until you can isolate the culprit(s).

If you have NRaas mods, by the way, I should mention two common causes of crashes on startup. One is having the MC Progression add-on module in place without both the MasterController and StoryProgression base mods. The other is having a mod that controls premium store content without the store items installed, for example the NRaas Cupcake mod without the Bakery store set. But if it's neither of those things, the 50/50 would be the best way to go.

Hello! I'm happy to say that I did the 50/50 method which took a while because I have hundreds of CC, but it finally worked! I found some broken or empty CC, and now my game loads! Thank you so much for your help! (:

@Lulac - Yes, even the 50/50 can be time consuming but it sure beats trying them each one at a time or the total guesswork method. Glad you got that all sorted out. :)

So I'm back again with the same problem, a brand new and extended list of things I've tried as well as pretty much no hope of fixing this now. Going to try my shot at asking regardless. I can't figure out how to make a new thread and I don't even think I can anymore, so I'm left putting up this post and hoping any info from now on for my personal case starts here, as a pretend new thread. Just so I can backtrack and do things I've tried before if needed etc. It's been awhile so I don't really remember everything.

Sims 3 with all expansions and most stuff packs. Playing on version 1.69. Only core mods or game changing mods in general I have installed are all NRAAS, all made sure were matching the versions. Game will crash to desktop and display the error, sims 3 has stopped responding. Before this happens, game freezes for half a second. Before this, game runs perfectly.

    My specs are as follows;

    Windows 8
Processor: Intel core i7-4790 CPU @ 3.06 GHZ
Graphics card: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 750 Ti
    64 bit Operating system
    8.00 RAM
    1 TB Hard drive

Once again I believe I meet the requirements well, as checked with MTS's page on information regarding if your graphics card is good for the game. Now, for things I have tried.

    1. Clean install
    2. Errortrap, will post below the information given when game crashed below.
    3. Assigning more memory to my game. was 200000 something, aka 2GB. I gave it 4GB, aka 400000 or something. don't remember the exact number 0 amount.
    4. Using several NRAAS mods to help prevent crashing or lag like overwatch etc.
    5. Playing without CC. Now, this is where it's weird. I only have about 50 CAS cc installed, all very popular items. Some are package files, some are sims3pack files. Used Sims3dashboard to check the package files, no errors or problems of any kind that it picked up anyway. For my sims3pack files, it's store content and some hairs, all from TSR. these mods are very popular from very well known and recommended cc creators.
    6. Doing DEP.

I may have done more but at this moment, it's not coming to me.
I didn't get any script error around the time of the crash however there is a xcpt file assigned into my sims3 document folder in which I will paste below incase that has any relevance.

Unsure if tagging works on thesims forum however, would love @igazor to help if possible at any time. You were so helpful the last time, as well as patient with my lack of understanding. Any input from anyone else however is extremely appreciated. I can't get into the Sims 4 and enjoy the sims 3 so much so it's definitely sad I'm rendered unable to play it without knowing at some point it'll crash. Thank you so much everyone!

    Sincere apologies on the spam, but I'd also like to mention I've;
Forced recognition of my graphics card to one apparently similar. now it's found 1, matched 1.
did vsync and limited fps via nvidia control panel, as well as changed it to best performance rather than power saver in power management settings.

Just felt that was useful info as I can't edit my above posts.

    @Tiskly - Hi there.

Let's take a look at that list of things you have tried first.

1 - Did you clean the computer's registry before doing the re-install? There could be remnants of a former install left behind, although the symptom there is usually a game that won't start not one that crashes.

2 - ErrorTrap logs need to be uploaded to us at NRaas for interpretation. But it sounds like you don't have any. What you posted was a crash log, and this one doesn't provide any helpful information I'm afraid.

3 - That's an urban legend and I suggest setting it back. What you have probably done is change the theoretical size of the script heap from 20 GB (not 2 GB) to 40 GB (not 4 GB).

The game can utilize up to just short of 4 GB of RAM when it's needed (and available) all by itself as of Patch 1.18, it doesn't need any help in that regard. You cannot assign more memory than that to TS3 as it is a 32-bit application.

6 - There should be no need to adjust DEP settings as of one of the later patches, it was 1.55 or 1.57, somewhere around there.

    ====
5 - Not sure I'm following this. Have you tried to run your game with no CC? Dashboard is helpful, not foolproof, and it doesn't matter how great those hairs are on others' games, we want to know about their impact on yours.

But actually, I would suggest pulling your TS3 game folder out of Documents to the Desktop for safekeeping and running some test games on the clean game folder that will spawn in its place. Of course, you could redo the framework and put NRaas mods back in, but no other content, for such a test and see if the instability is perhaps the fault of your game folder itself. This can and does happen and we can't always pinpoint the cause any closer than that.

I will do those exact steps tomorrow, although this would mean having to redo the force recognition of my graphics card or dep?

Would also like to mention. The game crashes at the same time. This is at 8pm. roughly. usually at some point within 8pm. back when I had my sims 3 game from last time with the same problem other cc etc, crashed at 8:15pm or something similar. Its always around that time. not sure if that information is helpful at all for you.

I have yet to play cc free usually due to the fact i dont enjoy the game without it, however will do so over the course of several sim days and just double check the game is fine without it. if not, where would i go from there?

No, if your graphics card is formally recognized then it's not dependent on the game folder in Documents at all. It will still be recognized the same if you pull the folder and thus have it create a new one. And DEP as explained in (6) above, really shouldn't be an issue anymore.

The clean folder test is meant to be troubleshooting, not permanent or enjoyable. If the game runs fine with no CC, then I would suggest adding it back in sections, maybe 25% at a time since you don't have all that much to work with (as opposed to thousands of content items) to see if you can find out where the problem returns.

As for the crash always being at the same sim time, yes that could be significant. It could be a sim somewhere in town giving birth (again). Do you have the NRaas mod that we are not allowed to talk about here (begins with "W") in play still, as that one is supposed to fix that glitch. It could be overactive wildflower, insect, seed, fish spawners, but those usually cause a freeze when they get in the way, not a crash. Or it could be some sim somewhere in town spinning into a CC outfit or hairstyle that doesn't cause any problems until a sim actually tries to wear them.

And yet, still no script logs to upload to NRaas near or around the time of this crash?

I am having an issue with the "Sims 3 has Stopped working" error as well. I had Windows 10 on my laptop. TS3 worked fine. However, my Steam did not so I decided to just downgrade back to 8 Pro. Reinstalled everything and it all worked. I updated to 8.1 and went to load the game. I get to the Game Launcher screen, hit the big blue Play button and the error message comes up.

I have TS4 and it works FINE. Which leads me to believe that my computer would be fine.

I have looked all over the web on this issue and have tried almost everything. Deleted the cache. Unintalled and reinstalled the game and Origin itself. Have tried the DEP thing, but the Sims 3 is not even on that list. I get these error logs in the EA documents folder that are titiled "xcpt NINA
[my nickname]" and then the date the log was created.
I am starting to think that the game is just broken forever for me on this laptop. I have no mods, no expansion packs, nothing but the game.

Just to clarify a couple of things first, if I may. "(Name of Program) Has Stopped Working" is not an error in itself. It is Windows telling you that your program has crashed. I know that's a subtle distinction, but it's a symptom, not the actual problem. Also, TS3 hasn't needed any DEP adjustments since a much earlier patch level, they took care of all of that for us long ago. That is, assuming your game is patched up. What is its current patch level? You mentioned Origin so if this is an Origin-controlled install you are probably on 1.69 but just wanted to confirm.

You can get rid of those crash logs and the memory dumps that usually accompany them. They are typically useless.

With all of these uninstalls and re-installs, have you cleaned the Windows registry in between? Unless you have reformatted your hard drive and started from scratch with a fresh Windows installation, there are very possibly remnants of prior TS3 installs stuck there and getting in the way of your current install. Many use the free version of CCleaner to clean the registry successfully before attempting a re-install. Again, this would be after an uninstall but before the attempted re-install.
    https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Have you pulled your TS3 user game folder out of Documents, thus forcing the game to spawn a new one on the next attempted launch? This folder with your game saves, content (if any), etc. often stays in place in between re-installs and that could be contributing to the problem.

What do you have for a graphics card? In between all of these OS downgrades and upgrades from 10 to 8 to 8.1, it's also likely that any adjustments you have made to limit your graphics card's frame rate (fps) for TS3 have become undone. TS4 has a built-in fps limiter in its game options, but TS3 does not. Newer and more powerful graphics cards will run wild on fps rates if left unchecked and that can cause all kinds of graphics issues, screen tears and crashing. It can even overwork a card and cause it to burn out, but of course there isn't much danger of that if the game isn't working for you at all.

TS3 and TS4 are programmed very differently. We can't make any kind of assessment on your computer from knowing one game is working properly but not the other. If you want a proper evaluation of your hardware and how it can be expected to perform with TS3 once you actually do get the game running again, we would need to see a dxdiag report. You could paste in by section here (it would be way too long to fit into one response) or use pastebin.com and provide a broken up link (as New Members cannot post full links) as long as we can understand how to use it.

Thank you for your response, @igazor. Funny enough, I solved the issue just now as I was loading this website.
While messing around with my emulator program and trying to figure out why that was not working, I decided to upgrade my Intel drivers and NVIDIA drivers as after all of the upgrading and downgrading Windows, I never handled the drivers. I went to my NVIDIA Control Panel, went to Manage 3D Settings, the Program Settings, selected TS3 as the program to customize, then selected High performance NVIDIA processor where it says 2. Decided to try to load the game, and its on.

Let's see how it goes. Thanks once again!

I don't know how to make a new discussion so here's my question:
I have the Sims 3 Xbox 360 version and for some reason, no matter what I do, I cannot delete columns. I am trying to demolish my house to build a new one and I have done it before but this is the first time this problem came up.

Hi there. Those with New Member status are not able to start your own threads, so that's fine. But I'm afraid this forum is about the computer game that runs on PCs/Macs, not the console version. They are actually very different and we don't know of a forum out there that supports the console versions (there used to be some long ago).

If all else fails I could create a new thread for you on the TS3 General Discussions board and see if it gets any answers, if the moderators allow it to stay in place, but let's see if anyone else replies here first. There are some members here who play both versions.

    Hello.
I have played Sims since 2007.Even though my computer isnt a good computer, it can run every expensition pack at the same time without a problem except for Pets.İt crashes everytime when ı try to run Sims 3 with Pets.
Last month ı tried to run Sims 3 with 7 expensition pack-include Pets- and this time it worked.I played Sims 3 like hours without any problem.
Last night ı played like hours without any problem and ı quited without any problem again. But today when ı tried to play with my family,it just crashed.(Sims 3 has stopped working)
I mean ı didnt install anything after quiting game.I started the game as always how ı started the game. After this problem ı checked Crash Log Analyzer and it says ''İnsufficent Graphics Capability''. I tried everything like uptadeting graphic drivers, try to run Sims in High Performance but ı doesnt work.My computer specs are
    Windows 7
    Processor:İntel Pentium B960 2.20Ghz
    Ram:4.00 GB Ram
    Graphics Card:İntel HD Graphics
    Current DIRECTX: DirectX11
My game version is 1.69(unfortunately) and ı'm using NRAAS Overwatch and ı have mods either. But these are Sims 3 Store mods so ı believe that they shouldnt make any problem.
I hope you guys could understand my problem and sorry for my bad english.

Pets is the most demanding ep in the game. Your computer is way under requirements to handle that EP or the game for that matter. You are lucky the rest of the eps will run. The larger your saves the more likely that you will have game issues. If the game was working prior to installing pets , than I would remove pets until you are in the market to buy a computer that meets requirements to run the whole game. Pets needs a gaming computer with a mid range gaming graphics card. Your computer is only designed for light computer tasks and is having issues rendering this game why you have insufficient graphics capability
