Sims 3 Default Skin Recommendation. «12...Next Go

I really like warmer maxis-matchy type skins, but I have yet to find one I'm in love with for Sims 3.

These are for Sims 4, but this is kind of what I'm looking for:

Maybe Kurasoberina, or Brntwaffles.
Both you'll have to scroll down, but the Kurasoberina Primer skin is a smoother skin, and so are the Brntwaffles skins.

Oooh that Primer skin looks really nice. I'm gonna try it right now. I've tried some of Brntwaffle's skins and they're okay, but I don't like the details they put on the lips.

I use one of Kurasoberinas skins but you might find that it's a little too detailed or realistic to be maxis match. Looks great with a HQ mod though.

I've always been a custom skin sceptic because I needed nothing very different from Maxis skin but a bit better. Kurasoberina's Primer skin is exactly that, I'm really happy I installed it. Comparison of my sim before and after:



(he's YA on the left and A on the right but it does give a good impression I think)

ETA: I really like the Sims 4 skins you linked there, I'll bookmark them for future use!

I also use kurasoberina's primer, I recommended it to Joanne65
It's doesn't change the look of your sim, is maxis-match, and looks good on all the body types and ages.

I also use Kurasoberina Primer HD Default Skin and with HD Specular Default Replacement. And no, I don't use HQ mods, did not tweak anything in the game files nor used any image manipulation. Although I think most if not all could tell the difference anyway. I really like how well the darker skin tones look and kids look even more adorable.




The sim below, I think, she was the one I used the UHD ND version.




These sims below have a non-default skin, Kurasoberina-Freckled Fruit, with HD Specular Default Replacement.



This is what one of my sims look like with no default skin but just the HD Specular. Funny, I wondered at first why my sim looked like EA default.


And with the default skin and specular.

I've tried that Primer skin several times but to me, it really changed the looks of my sims and I did not care for it. At the moment I'm using one of Brntwaffles skins as my default and that's the only skin I have installed right now. But I have another saved game where I always use a different default skin.

I am incredibly picky about skins, but this one is so beautiful in game it has me wanting to replace my defaults I've been using since 2009. However, some of my stuff is all merged and I can't replace without losing some other replacements ( until I find my backups )
It is the skin I use on all my sims now though.

I love this thread. I have bookmarked it so I can grab some of these awesome skins.

I have a question. If you use a non-default do sims inherit it or does it have to be the default for that? I love the one with freckles but only for the sims that are fair skinned and a few of the dark skinned ones but if some kids got it and others didn't then I am okay with whoever gets if it is inherited . I will definitely download that one as well as some of the others. I have a very old default replacement which has a few issues so would like to replace it. So much talent out there!

Yeah I tried it once too and for whatever reason, I didn't like how it looked. I must have been using a different version because I like Deshong04's sims.

@AudreyFld I THINK they can inherit it. I'm running with mods (Nraas MC, SP), so mine definitely inherit but I couldn't tell you for 100% certain if they do in an unmodded game.

I have a couple of the NRAAS mods, MC, OW etc but not SP. I am in the process of upgrading my PC so I can run SP. I love that mod but my pitiful PC cannot handle the added calculations with everything I want to have open while I play.

But back on topic - all of the sims that everyone had posted are so unique. The skins help to make them beautiful and sexy, but I find that after a couple of generations they all look the same. I guess that is why I was wanting to know if they inherited non-default skins. I am wondering if everyone also uses additional sliders to make their features so unique (not counting the height sliders which are very cool but I don't like the weird animations that come with it).

I can't remember the exact name of it, but the one I use is from MTS and is the "featured" skin that comes in both natural and supernatural colours. I like it a lot, but as far as I know its not default, I've had to edit in CAS if a sim doesn't have the skin.

@AudreyFld Mostly with the mods I'm wondering if you have the advanced genetics on, which is part of... either MC or SP. I use other sliders, like body shape ones, and face sliders (chin cleft, different small effect ones for eyes/brows/lips, nose bridge bump etc.) and they also are inherited. I've been getting some really nice looking sims, but I use a lot of CC makeup and different more defined skins. I'd love to find a more realistic freckled one, I like freckled fruit, but I wish it was more defined around the eyes.

What HQ mod do you have?

@LBell At one point I was using this HQ mod. I have now switched over to this HQ mod and it's paired with a "no glow" mod.
Example of the no glow effect:


HQ mods are used for sim picture taking and you won't see too much of a change unless you're using HD create a sim content (example: skin). You can use it for constant game play if the PC can handle it (yours would) and if the texture resolution isn't set too high.. But it will add extra stress to the game. The first link gives you the option to turn it off and on. The second link (the mod that I currently use HQ+No Glow) overrides your GraphicsRules so you will need to edit it again in order to keep your card recognized.

If you like the No Glow mod, there is a link to have that separate and you could probably combine it with the HQ mod by aWT (first link) that allows you to turn it off and on.

Yes all in game pics. I wouldn't be surprised if the creator takes pics with the HQ mod considering her skins are intended for it but it's not required.

Thanks! I use navetsea model default and the barbie you are real by Buhudain and I'm not satisfied with how it looks. I'll try the HD skins and see how it goes

I have the KBPrimerHDPlusDEFAULTSkinFIXED (HD+Fixed) and KBHDSpecularDefaultReplacement. I also have the UHD nondefault skin among other nondefault skins. To be honest, I don't know what my monitor is, lol, but I set my current resolution to 1440x900 in-game. (Okay, after a bit of searching on my computer I have a Dell 19" Widescreen Flat Panel LCD that supports up to 1440x900.) All those pictures were taken with maxed out settings but some with the resolution of 1024x768 I think.

@AudreyFld Yes, I use all kinds of sliders beside height. Too many to name, though. In general, face and body sliders. I also take advantage of going beyond EA's limitations using NRass to get more exaggerated features.





I'm not sure if nondefault skins get inherited since I haven't gotten that far yet into gameplay to know. But I hope so.
