Yes. It is data that has to be stored and accessed. The more you have, the more taxing on your processor. However, I would think you would need a lot, like thousands, to burden your machine. Unless of course, you have the bare minimum or less of processing power.
Try cleaning them out and storing them in a different folder or uploading them to a photo sharing site like photobucket. Then see if you notice a difference.

It's not slowing down my game... just curious! hahaha. I have a pretty good gaming rig that could handle it.
