how to trap a sim?

I've created a dungeon to trap sims. It seems that I can only trap them if they are a part of the household. If I trap a visitor, they end up teleporting out of my dungeon. Is there any way to trap a visitor?

I tried trapping a family member which worked if I played that household, but when I switch to another household, the trapped sim can be seen roaming neighborhoods. So, good luck.

The sim will disappear once you change active lots. If your intention is to kill your prisoner, you'll have to remain in your house and wait for your evil deed to be completed. Trust me, I would know about that >:)

They disappear when I'm at the house too. They state that they're going home and then fade into thin air.

Dang those smart Sims... They've finally got a way to get away from us. :(

Really? That's strange, I trapped a townie in my basement last week and made my sim watch her die for the last requirement of the public enemy aspiration. The townie just kept waving showing she was leaving but didn't disappear or anything.
