Child's Hair Color - Genetics Question

In my game, Travis Scott (from the BFF household) and Zoe Patel (from the Roomies household) got married and have a baby boy. Their baby just turned into a child, and I noticed his hair color is black! None of his parents has black hair. Genetically speaking, it is impossible for this child to have black hair. How does genetics work in TS4?

Travis Scott - Blond hair, dark brown eyes
Zoe Patel - Dark brown hair, light brown eyes
Child - Black hair, light brown eyes like the mom

It actually isn't genetically impossible for parents with one having blond hair and another having brown hair to have black haired child.

It isn't but it is extremely rare. In this game it happens with every second child. It's most likely not working as intended OP.

Sometimes there are hair/eyebrow color glitches when you take the kid into CAS- it'll randomly change to a different color that makes no sense.

There's always some reasonable chance to get dark hair from light haired parents (esp. if one of them is obviously interrupted at a later point in the pathway that leads to darkened hair than the other parent). There are loads of ways to interrupt this gene expression pathway to get various light hair phenotypes, but the recombination of genes in the child can easily yield a whole pathway as each parent's set of genes cover the broken parts of the other parent's pathway (which will give dark hair). Getting light hair from dark haired parents is quite rare (if both are dark haired), but the other way around is hardly an exceptionally rare occurrence. That said there have been plenty of postings that have demonstrated the non-real nature of S4's genetics (which are still improved compared to previous implementations).

That's not cool. I wish the genetics in TS4 were more realistic.
