Your customers can eat for free at the bakery anyway, if you put out free food on the counter (ie, don't mark it for sale). I usually put a plate of brownies or donuts on the top of the baking display for all and sundry to help themselves. It keeps my customers happy and the sims running the store can also have a quick snack whenever they get hungry. I think of it as allowing customers to sample my sim's baking. And it has no adverse effect on sales. Hunger does not motivate sims to buy food, like it would in RL. On the contrary, they are more likely to buy if they are in a good mood.
