Sims 2 World Builder

meggiewesmeggiewes Posts: 1,066 Member
Does anybody know if we can get the world building tool for the Sims 2 anywhere still? I would love to make a college town based off of the college I went to, but none of the pre-made maps are cooperating with how I want it to look like.

You can create your own maps using Sim City 4 and import them into TS2. If you don't have SC4, then you have to go searching for a download or request a map from someone who makes them. Check out MTS and other sites, often map creators will take requests, so find someone whose work you like and ask them to hook you up with a custom map.

Otherwise, there's a cheat - modifyNeighborhoodTerrain on - that will allow you to modify the terrain of your hood. You can use it in combination with something like this - http://modthesims.info/d/324731 - which will allow you to build fake roads. If you want to get really fancy, there's also this tool - http://modthesims.info/d/384656 - which will let you move lots anywhere on the map without needing a road to place them against.

Good luck. World building is a blast in TS2 with the right tools and you can do just about anything you can imagine with a little fiddling around and the right deco sets :)

    Ooh! Thank you!

I'll leave these here as well...

http://modthesims.info/d/265020 - this mod allows you to place neighborhood items in/over lots. It's especially helpful if you are trying to build a wooded area and want to use the neighborhood trees, but it's useful for so many other things. This is an essential mod in my opinion.

http://322cdb.livejournal.com/69509.html - these are the world hood objects from TS3 that have been converted. If you google "ts2 hood deco", you will find much more. There is deco for just about every hood type you can imagine at this point - themed or regular.

For future reference, where are the pictures stored in the game documents again? I'll probably be fiddling with this over the weekend and I'll probably want to take pictures, but I don't like playing in windowed mode to do the PrtScrn screenshot technique.

your pics are found in the neighborhoods > storytelling folder. ex: if youre playing bella donna its the first neighborhood. the snapshots are not in any order. just scroll until you find yours. i deleted the game snapshots to make mine easier to find.
