The kid's chemistry lab just caught fire in the basement, but the fire suppression system didn't go off. I am running a whole bunch of mods and CC, of course
but have had no problems with the fire prevention system before (not had a fire since the basement update). I'm not sure of any way to reliably start fires to test further.
Burnt chemistry lab and fire prevention system: Perhaps the system needs to go on a wall that faces against the basement? or one above ground?

I noted that all the kids' drawings that I had on the wall above the set got burned to nothing. Many of them were drawings by parents and uncles and older siblings that can't now be reproduced. Oh well. One more point against hoarding.
I have started a new game with no mods
First fire is put out by the father. Sprinkler doesn't start.
Second fire is also put out by the adult sim. The sprinkler sytem is installed above ground here:
Fire number three:
The sprinkler System is RIGHT THERE!! I'm not putting this one out...
Several seconds later:
I should let these poor stressed out kids go to school for a break I suppose....
