I'm using the top end camera (Crystal Clear Digital Camera), and my sim's level is 5. I am not using any filters. The issue is consistent across all of the photos I take, regardless of quality (i.e. the big photos weren't just bad shots).
Note that the Crystal Clear Digital Camera is the only one capable of taking large photos in the first place.
@lizziebeth0890 - I had this issue too. I had to close my game, delete everything in the cache folder and repair my game. When I reloaded the game and took new pictures they came out as they were supposed to.
Yeah I did the same thing and it worked for like a half an hour and now it's doing it again. I guess I will just have to close the game and repair often. Maybe I'll just quit playing my photographer sim for awhile. :(
I went ahead and cleared the cache and repaired. No change, but I did discover something interesting. The problem only applies to large photos taken with a horizontal orientation. The vertical orientation is just as bright as the medium sized photo. See image below:
Ah, thank goodness I'm not the only one! Interesting that you picked up on a difference between the orientations for the medium photos too, but it is far more subtle, at least in my game. Given that this isn't just happening to me, I'm going to go ahead and report it.
Pleased to report that the issue appears to be fixed in today's (4/13) patch! I still wonder about the slight different in brightness/clarity between portrait sizes and landscape sizes. It's subtle but noticeable. Portraits are more vibrant. But still, I'm just happy to be able to take some decent large landscape shots now!
