Did the test for You Can Run it. Bought the game, and returned it no sim4 for me

Hi all you sim 4 tech simmers,
I did the can you run it test and it gave me all green checks for minimum specs. Then I checked out the Recommended specs and the only thing in question is my old video cards. ATIx1950 cross fired. I have a 512mb video card memory and they recommend 1gig video memory. This has me a little confused even though it is only a recommendation. Is it true that The sims 4 runs on a video card using 128mb video memory? On the minimum spec side I get 1 bar for my cards and the check green mark.

I also checked my laptop and the same thing in the video card section I get green check with one bar. I go over to the recommended and it is good to go as well. As this card has the 1gig of memory. I think in my laptop I have a Ninvida M420 something like that. I am not really concerned about the laptop at this time. Problem with that is I only have a 500gig hard drive and these games can stuff that up in no time when you go with all the eps and sps.

I will post my specs here for my old girl gateway FX 530xt. I just put two new tera byte hard drives in this one and a new dvd/cd burner player drive actually I just did two of them. Plus I maxed out the memory to 8gigs. I mainly use this one to play all my sims games. I also did the last ep for sims 3 and got the same results as I did for sims 4. However I do not have any lag game looks good and plays fine no crashes I am using mostly all of the ddl except for the first bunch of eps. My last ddl was Into the Future.

My next question is I believe I read somewhere on Origin I think something about the sims 4 could mess with your dvd players? I do not have any third party burning software installed on this computer. I am concerned because I just replaced the old ones and these are hard to come by because they are old dvd/cd optical drives. I will have to use several posts as discussed here on this forum.
Thanks for reading and your information,
Your Simmy friend Winterloc

    Hello,

The ATI Radeon X1950 graphics card should allow you to play the game at medium settings, or perhaps even medium-high settings if the game is optimised enough for your particular Crossfire setup.

I hope this helps and keep simming,

    Hi all,
I bought and downloaded and installed the sims 4. When I got past the load page and got into the game I noticed blocks of color and black boxes on the page. I went into game options and every thing set on low except 3d rendering set to medium. I lowered that one to low and moved everything else up to medium. I also click on custom saved and exited the game. I went back in and the color was gone and looked ok. I played for a bit and exited out of game. The game closed but not the load screen. I am not sure if this game runs funny or not. I check to see if I am patched according to Origin it is. I am not sure if I will keep this game as I really do not like how it is messing with my computer.

First go around I had to hard shut down my computer. Then the last time I tried to do a restart and had to wait for Origin to close out and something host to close. I have windows gadgets on my desktop and they got rearranged to the middle of my computer. The game looks a little dark. Lights will not go on to brighten the room.

I think my video cards are the cause. I think it is the drivers as well. The drivers are from windows as Ati drivers I think are done with my cards. Oh well if anyone has any info on any of my mentioned problems post it here or if there is anything I need to do get this game to run as well as my other sims games.

    Winterloc

Try putting Origin in offline mode before you start the game. Now that you've started it once with Origin online, you don't need Origin to be online anymore unless you want to get into the gallery while in-game, and there is now a web interface for the gallery, so you don't really even need it for that.

    Thank you MSPhy,

^On your origin app click on the Origin on the bar across the top, then click on Go Offline.

Do to the funny colors and some black boxes on this computer while in the load screens. Especially the house world load screen. I think I will try it on my asus rog laptop and see how it plays. Once in the game here on this computer all is ok with the exception of looking at the pool tools choices they too are showing that funny color business. Plus moodlet section looks weird as well. I can put my mouse over it and read it.

I am just afraid everything will start going strange. You all know looks like your graphics card went belly up. I think my problem is a driver issue. I will look on ati to see if I can find one. I am using the windows 7 driver for video cards cause the cards are so old.

I will say this it is a pretty game and I love the paddle boat that comes around. Bella is beautiful and I changed Morty to a goatee.
No crashes. Just have a hard time at times getting out of the game. I have had to hard shut down my computer cause I could not use ctrl alt delete.

Thanks for reading and help you three gave me.

Oh my goodness installed the game on my laptop, watched the load screens when to put it laptop mood and it all froze and lappy started to scream. Got it back up and then it had to do a check disk. I am just not having any luck here with this game. It is coming up and looking ok I will go back into the game and see. If not I will be returning this game for a refund.

Total update first off thank you everyone for your help. I did the refund and was approved for my refund. To bad this game will not work correctly on either of my computers. It is a pretty game and wished I could play it. This is the first sims game that will not work correctly for me.

You all have fun with it and I will stick to my sims 1,2,3 and other ea games that I have. Good luck with your sims 4 and when the eps and sps come along download lots of pictures. :D
