Hello everyone, and welcome to another fun-filled cycle of one of the most exciting and laid back competitions I run! Wait, you say, how can a competition be both exciting and laid back, you ask? Well, quite simply put, it's exciting because most contestants create stunning works of art and it's laid back because judging is more conversational and directed towards the model, not the contestant!
I know it's a busy time of year and I know that because of this busy time of year, most people are too busy to take on a full commitment that a regular or story-based competition can require. So, that's why Face Off is a wonderful option!
Your assignments are all head shots in Face Off. Each assignment has very little restrictions. Each deadline will be 10 days instead of the typical 7. Each time we judge, you get to see us judges communicate as if your models were real and really taking criticism (kind of like America's Next Top Model). There is no rubric. Instead, judges use a list of criteria that could change with each round to make comments and decide on rankings.
Men and Women are both allowed. All must be Young Adult or Adult.
No negativity of any kind is allowed - this includes belittling yourself
Editing is allowed and highly recommended
NO face-plastering or photo-skinning
You are allowed to draw your own clothing or objects
Only 2 extensions per person per cycle - yes I will be keeping track
Only 2 days MAX extensions are allowed - you must ask for one at
least 24 hours in advanced
Assignments last 10 days - that's lots of time, which means I may choose not
to extend it for you
Deadlines are set at Pacific Standard Times - adjust accordingly

As with previous rounds of Face Off, the final round includes a voting poll. You, as lovely lurkers, will have a say in who deserves to win.

Now that we're at the finals, it's time to get serious! Only the two of you are left and you will have to battle it out in one final image to show if you've got the stuff to win!!
For your final assignment, you're going to have to create something that is truly bright and colorful. I don't care what your theme is or whether your headshot is a close one or a waist-up. You just have to create something bright, colorful, vibrant, etc.

Q: How do the judges judge with no scoring rubric?
A: They use the list of judging criteria for each assignment to formulate their critiques.
Q: Well, without a rubric, how do the rankings form?
A: After we critique your model, we will formulate our own lists of from best to worst. Those lists will then be combined using a mathematical equation.
1st place ranking from one of the judges earns you 20 points.
2nd place ranking from one of the judges earns you 18 points.
3rd place ranking from one of the judges earns you 16 points.
4th place ranking from one of the judges earns you 14 points.
5th place ranking from one of the judges earns you 12 points.
6th place ranking from one of the judges earns you 10 points.
7th place ranking from one of the judges earns you 8 points.
8th place ranking from one of the judges earns you 7 points.
9th place ranking from one of the judges earns you 6 points.
10th or lower ranking from one of the judges earns you 5 points.
Those points will be combined to create your overall placement.
Q: Do the judges critique me or my model?
A: Our comments will be directed towards your model. We will act as if they are alive and real models to critique.
Q: Is there any special title, award, or judging element to this competition?
A: There is no extra boost in points like getting host's choice, but there is a bottom three. Each round, starting with round 2, there will be a bottom 3 and ANY person in that bottom 3 is in jeopardy of being eliminated.
Q: How is the person eliminated determined?
A: Judges will give their rankings as well as who they believe should be eliminated. If it's a unanimous decision, that person is eliminated. If not, then scores play a factor.

Oh man, here we are already at the final round of scores. It has been such a fascinating and really wonderful cycle of Face Off and I appreciate all the amazing contestants and fun lurkers!
I always hate seeing the competition end! But I know it has to...
I want to thank Kay for being a wonderful judge as long as she could be. I hope that whatever has happened in her personal life fixes itself soon so we can have her back with us! I miss you!
I want to also give a huge thanks to Nini for stepping in and judging for me last minute. She has been new to judging, but is already a pro in my eyes. You are wonderful girl and I love having you judge alongside me!
Finally, all you lovely contestants have been amazing. You've worked with me while I've gone through some things and you are always encouraging. I hope that you all join other competitions of mine in the future as I adore you all!

Wow, talk about colorful! My eyes aren't sure where to look first! Your team really pulled out all the stops on this! Your makeup artist matched the colors of your outfit perfectly without being too much to look at, and your hairstylist chose the perfect style for a beach day. The lighting is spot on making all the colors just pop out and yet the focus is still on you. That background is a perfect vision of a sunny, fun beach day in the waves! All of this sets off those gorgeous baby blues and your flawless skin with that adorable pose. Intense and powerful!
Throughout this comp, your team has really managed to work and grow together to make the most of your beauty whether fierce or sweet and doing it creatively. Great job to your team for becoming cohesive throughout!

I will say that by looking at your portfolio, you’ve only smild twice in the entire competition. I would have loved to see a bit more versatility from you, but overall, your team rocked it.
Your final photo was probably one of my favorites of yours. It showcases your pixie-like look and shows it well. You look adorable and the bright colors are definitely present in the shot. Oh my goodness! What a colorful, dreamy beauty you are! Your team really brought these colors together that romance the viewer. This has a more romantic feel to it and less of a vibrant one, as does your pose. Your team did do an amazing job of bringing together lovely elements for the final assignment. That hair is soft and flowing and the flower crown enhances your look. Your makeup is subtle but powerful in showcasing your beauty—and those incredible eyes—and that eye shadow is a wonderful touch! The background is beautiful, I love both scenes, but they somehow don’t seem to mesh together.
All the way through, your team has been creative and pushed the bar for each assignment. What an amazing transformation for all of you to grow as a group and for your team making the most of your incredible beauty!
