I'm in need of a new laptop or desktop, and I want to make sure that I could play the Sims 4 smoothly on high graphics. I also still play the Sims 2 as well. Thanks!
What are your computer specs?
Hello,
It is less expensive to buy a desktop to play at Ultra high settings. I would advise getting an Intel Core i5 (or AMD FX series if on a tighter budget), 8GB of RAM and a GTX 750 Ti / R9 260X or greater graphics card.
i5 2500k OC'ed to 4.4, 8GB of Ram, GTX 770, I wouldnt bother with a laptop designed for games. I've made the mistake twice in the past, once from alienware and once from dell. Both times the system was marketed as being upgradeable. Neither system was supported with the upgrade parts for more than 1 generation.

My specs are overkill but here goes:
Processor: Intel Core i7-4770K Processor (4x.3.50GHz/8MB-intel core
Processor cooler: Corsair hydro series H55 liquid CPU Cooling system-Standard 120mm
Memory 16 GB Corsair
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780-3GB -single card
Motherboard: MSI 287G43-2x PCIe 3.0 x 16, 2x USB 3.0 HDMI
Power Supply 850 Watt- Thermaltake TR2 TRX-750M 6.0
Primary Hard Drive: 2TB Hard Drive -64M Cache, 7200rpm, 6.0Gb/s-Single Drive
Sound Card 3D premium Sound onboard
Network Card: Onboard LAN Network Gb or 10/100
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
2.4GHz and 4GB of RAM runs TS4 at Max (Laptop Mode) and TS3 at Max no lag. And I have 32MB of dedicated video memory but it manages to run all those things lagless its SO WEIRD!
Edit: is a laptop
PC Specs:
Asus ROG GL753VE-BS71 17.3 inch
Intel Core i7 7700HQ 2.8-3.8GHz
16GB DDR4 RAM
128GB SSD
1TB 7200RPM HDD
NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1050 TI 4GB
I run all settings at high except I turn Edge Smoothing off cause it helps run the game at 60fps. I don't care if my Sims have jagged edges around them. I also turned laptop mode on, that too also helps my game run faster but I sacrifice certain visuals.
Thanks everyone! All of you have been really helpful
I'm looking at MSi laptops on Amazon at the moment since quite a few people have recommended them.
Msi are good gaming laptops.. however they tend to be a little over priced.. Lenovo or Asus can be cheaper and both are just as good.
my desktop is a custom built one. I picked all the parts and got someone to build it..(I don't have the patience.)
And my laptop is a metabox (Australian brand.) But it's from Clevo which I think is American.
I would honestly go desktop if you want the luxury of upgrading your parts in a few years.. desktops last longer and are much better and cheaper.
As for specs for a desktop.. a good intel core i5 cpu,
8 or even 16GB ram.
And either a Amd R9 260 or greater graphics card or Nvidia GeForce Gtx 750 ti or greater.
Yeah MSi laptops are definitely over priced but they are pretty good since you can just take them any where. I've taken my laptop all kinds of places and played a few games on it. But then again I don't play the hardcore games, if you just plan to play Sims 4 then a decent cheap computer would be best.
Is the game crashing on you guys?
Because I'm thinking if I would upgrade my pc that will stop the game from crashing so much!

I currently have:
NVIDIA GEForce 9400 GT
2GB RAM
AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.01GHz
32-Bit operating system

What do you suggest?
You need more than 2GB of ram.. I'm sure that's why you are crashing.
You have 2GB of ram installed but after windows an other applications that drops to around 1GB.
Try turning off all background tasks.
My computer is more than is necessary: i7-4770 cpu @ 3.4ghz, 8GB ram, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660. However the reason I'm saying this is my game has crashed a couple of times... although I think each time it was because origin wanted me to update the game. Still, I have had no issues with babies or scary bugs like that.

The baby thing was mostly for people using integrated or dual graphics on laptops.
I myself have had 1 crash when I alt tabbed out of the game.. it's still early day's I'm sure most things will be fixed with coming patches.. the deformed babies have been fixed today in the new patch.
Haven't had any issues. no crashes or bugs. Also plays games like world of warcraft absolutely fine.
**adding on** I too suggest a desktop. It's a lot easier to switch out parts when needed. I myself built my own desktop as I figured it would be less expensive in the future when I have to switch graphic cards, etc to keep up with the games.
My system is very outdated, but plays the Sims, World of Warcraft, and other games phenomenally well. I haven't had any errors or issues with the Sims 4, and in fact it plays much smoother than 3.
